Redial the last phone number 35

by Adam Marks Thu, 15 Jul 2010 11:10 am EDT

Ever wanted to redial the last number you called, but can’t find a “Redial” option on the phone…well, it’s really easy to do with webOS.

  1. Open the Phone App ( Phone App )
  2. Press the physical Enter keyboard key ( Enter key ) or the onscreen green “Call” button:
  3. The last phone number you dialed will be displayed on the top of the screen
  4. Press the physical Enter keyboard key or the onscreen green “Call” button again to dial the call

Thanks,

never used that much, usually went into the call logs.

Definitely saves hassle of finding the call log button if driving down the road.

This one is new to me. Thanks, keep'em coming!

I've had my phone over a year and didn't know this was a thing... Thank you

Most of my 'dumb phones' did this, I actually got excited when i did it on the Pre.

Or-
If you wear a Bluetooth, just tap that.

Cheers

A related comment. I use my bluetooth headset whenever I'm in the car. I'm one of the people who want voice-dial functions (handheld-use is illegal while driving in Ontario).

What I do to get-by: Just before I hit the road, if there's somebody I might need to call (ie: I'm off to meet a Customer / if I hit traffic, I'll need to ring them), I do the following:
-Call their number
-*Immediately* hang up the call (ie: before the call request goes through the network to the recipient's phone)

When I'm on the road, all I have to do is use my 'last # redial' (push and hold the bluetooth button for approx. 2 seconds & release) feature to 'pseudo-voicedial'.

wow you guys have to be dumbass..sorry for the language..but any ways, if you didnt know you could do that? lol these are lame tips

My thoughts exactly, however, WebOS isn't exactly known for hiding its abilities. If this is as complex and hidden as it gets -- they've done something right. Now, what this site needs is a "Patch" of the week or something of that sort. Something that Pre-ware users can use to preview these patches, instead of searching for "best patch" in the forums.

WOW, maybe verizon was right with their old advertising, the phone for mom's. These were basics that I found out by reading the online documentation on palms website, and just playing around with the phone

Pfff you got that right.. As simple as these tip are alot and I mean alot of ppl with webOS devices are not with the program.. Countless ppl and im sorry but not genderize, mainly females I see them with a Pre/pixi and complain that the phone doesnt do anything and I look they've never even have accepted the term & agreements to look at the app store.. smh I just got my girlfriend the pixi on AT&T and she returned it within a wk, talking about that it was too complicated..

I think that Palm needs to go a step further as to getting ppl to come HERE on Pre central.. Cus quite honestly you can put up these tips all you want but its not reaching not even 30% of webOS owners.. Most of the ppl who come here are tech savy in some ways..

For most people their webOS phone is their first smartphone. All the dumbphones they've had up until then have come with giant booklets with all the information available. They can look at said book anywhere they want, at any time.

Learning a phone by hoping on a computer is not always possible, or convenient.

What are people's problem that they feel compelled to cut others down and use language that is reprehensible in public. If you don't like the tips, then don't read them. I am certainly not a mom either, guy thank you, and don't feel either my masculinity or intelligence insulted. I appreciate the tips, even the one's I already know. I don't read the documentation unless absolutely necessary, & since webOS is so intuitive, doubt I will feel compelled to later. I'm a Palm user since 1996 & Palm Pilot Personal, but am a new webOS user. BRING ON THE TIPS, LAME OR NOT!!! Thanks precentral.

Ummm I dont even see the word lame in my previous post o_O? Or did I cut down anyone. All I said that mainly every single female (and some males occasionally) I've seen with a Pre/Pixi never even been to the app store and are complainning that the phone does nothing.. I stated was is a fact! Alot of webOS owners or ones that Palm has lost was due to them not really know what they was holding in there hands.. What I suggested was that even though pre central is providing these tips.. Those same ppl who dont know a thing need to be direct to precentral.. Maybe their can be a lil memo or msg or something that comes in the box or when you boot up the phone for the 1st time.. Cus whats the point of having these tips if their not reaching the proper audience?

Although you

Have you ported to your Pre what CAN be from palmos devices by referring to palm.com/migrate-webos? If you have your info in a Palm desktop program, move it to your Palm profile once you've set that up. It sounds like you're doing manually what can be done for you. I don't remember having any difficulty doing this moving from my Palm TX to my Pre+ in Feb.

Thanks. I haven't ported over yet, since it was my understanding that there's not a laptop interface when your calendar is on the Pre (but there's a google calendar option to investigate... maybe over the holiday weekend). For now, as I slowly move into the phone, I carry my Palm TX and my Pre in my purse.

I tend to access my calendar from my laptop the majority of the time... my Palm TX makes it portable. I'm hesitant to put my calendar on my Pre if I can't view it on my laptop.

How does one do this if they followed the previous tip to remove the Phone icon from the quicklaunch bar?

You go to where ever you put the phone icon in the launcher.. You know like how you go to make a call.. If happen to get the call log, just tap the keypad symbol on the lower right and then tap the phone icon as if you was attempting to make a call.. The last person you dial or digit should come up on the top of the screen o_O

thank you for the tip, I've had my Pre since launch and didn't know this, always used the Phone App then hit the list icon. Thanks! To all the people who are calling people names cause we didn't know this, lick 'em! THANKS FOR GREAT TIP! You got 5 starts from ME!

Why not post all the tips from that one thread in the forum into a separate section of the website or into an easily accessible document? I'm not understanding the need for these posts if there's a better option available. To be honest it seems like you guys are posting articles just to post articles since Palm news has been pretty slow.

new to me! Thanks!

Ahh, so if I install a virus on your computer with popups every 10 seconds, I could just have a disclaimer that read: "Don't like it? Don't read it" and all would be dandy?

How about, if you don't like the comments don't read them. O yea, you can't tell if you will like it until you read it... idiot.

Furthermore the previous tip offered this gem:

"When I ask people why they still had the phone icon there, they usually answer

@Jezer29 My post was not directed towards you. I started it on my Pre (and if you have one you know it is not near as fast to type on it as a real keyboard :-)), and you posted before I could finish. It was further up the "food chain". For some reason it also double posts every time I have commented from my Pre. And BTW Precentral, keep the posts on the main page. If one doen't want to read them, he/she should close his/her eyes.

Tip I finally figured out: To reply to a specific messaage, use the "reply" after that message, not the last one. Threads of specific posts don't show up on the mobile version like they do in the full version. Also, someone told me after my posts showed up in duplicate or triplicate (and I see one of your long ones is there 4 times so far) that when posting from your Pre, after you save it, close the browser then open it up again. That's worked for me.

I already knew of this one, but I do like the "tips" articles. Keep it up!

Yes, making the conscious decision to visit a website is exactly like someone nefariously installing a virus on one's computer. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

HELP! Does anyone know how to switch back to the first call (and hang up on the second), after answering a second, without hanging up on both callers?! This has frustrated me since June 6th of 2009 not being able to figure out how to get my phone to do this!

When you hang up the 2nd call, doesn't the 1st connect again?

no :(

I have the same problem. When I'm on a call and a second one comes in, I have to tell the first call that I have to call them back or I have to let the second call go to voice mail. I have not been able to use the call waiting feature on my Pre :(

Just about all smart phones do this, this is not anything unique to the Pre only.
