Rumor: Palm Pre 2 headed for Verizon? 186

by Dieter Bohn Thu, 14 Oct 2010 5:33 pm EDT

It looks more and more likely that the Palm Pre 2 is going to come to Verizon. Of course, this lines up with all the rumors we have been reporting to date: that the Pre is being EOL'd on October 21st and previous rumors that a new Pre would hit Verizon in October.  Engadget has the above shot preparing Verizon employees for device training on the Palm Pre 2.

No word on other carriers yet, but who's excited?

Palm HD coming to Sprint. A sales associate told me so.

And this will be coming to my Sprint line, via the Sprint Pre Plus hack. If HP won't give me it, I'll make it. =)

I would definitely do the Pre plus hack if it didn't come to Sprint. Though, I would wait a few more months for a webOS super phone on Sprint:) I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hope so!! come on, SOMETHING on sprint, please? :)

yeah... seriously. even happier that i plus'ed my sprint pre since sprint's been devoid of pre 2 leaks/rumors.

if true, nice b.o.h.i.c.a. on behalf of palm to the sprint pre community whom was there was from the very start (btw... "sprint" and "palm" can be reversed in the sentence).

OmegaSupreme: I currently have two active Pre phones. One on Sprint and a new one on Verizon. I couldn't wait either and I got new Pre Plus for free for signing up on VZ with an "early termination fee" of $350... which I plan on using. So, the Pre Plus cost me $350.

NOW: I want to convert my Pre into a Pre Plus. You say you did it already (convert Pre minus to Pre Plus on Sprint). How did it go? Was it difficult, etc.? I'd love to know how it went. Thanks in advance.

search the forums it is very easy to find

as the guy above said, read the thread dedicated to the topic in the palm tips forum (it's usually one of the top threads in there).

it was pretty painless. your's should be even more painless since you have a vzw pre plus to convert (my at&t plus had a couple of wires with extra length that made it tricky to stuff into around the sprint com board).

edit post...

i put a couple of things in this post originally, but deleted.

really everything that you need is in that thread. not trying to be rude, but a lot of people have done it with those notes. if you have trouble you can pm or email me through the board.

Im sure it will come to sprint. Both carriers use cdma radios and besides...this is a photo of verizon's systems. Early to mid november is the rumored release time right? Lets wait a couple more weeks before the panic.

Verizon dragged their feet with the Pre Plus, not sure what would make the 2 any different. Oddly, my local VZ store had pulled the Pixi a couple months ago and turned off the Pre demo they had and even took it off display for a couple week, now has both on display next to the HP Netbook. So, perhaps HP has leverated their netbook contract to motivate VZ into half pushing their units.

Not a whole lot going on with this phone, so maybe all three carriers will get it. If HP and Sprint cant do a deal soon, they're going to leave a lot of mutual customers out in the cold.

come on dude. Don't make stuff up. Lol.

As much as the new Pre is nice, my Pre, overclocked is running just fine. I will wait for the Super Device. I'm not wasting my upgrade on a quality/Spec bump. We have 4 in my family. All overclocked and running great!

I just finished speaking with HP:

At HP, we make sure that every customer

Good stuff.. looking forward to 2.0

Man I hope Sprint gets something... Hang on little buddy, you can make it to the end!

No thanks, I'll hold off for the SUPER DEVICE.

PAAAAAAAALM!!!!

But the super device is already out. No need to wait.

http://now.sprint.com/epic4g

great, go tell it to the android community.

Sadly, while lot of people own droids, there are not a lot of people that are enthusiastic about them. We have more droid fans here in PreCentral then droidcentral has. The people that have them dont seem to be the advanced tech types and they "just use them" without twisting them to their limits.

ur a natural moron!

I actually laughed at that a little. I would love for a webOS phone to come out on hardware as powerful as the Epic or even the EVO. Unfortunately we are going to have to wait til next year sometime to see those specs.

wellll the pre 2 pretty much has equivalent hardware compared to the epic, if you dont count screen size. so, what exactly do you mean here?

exactly, good point. He could be referring to 4G, though, which would be nice. And the screen size is a pretty major point, since the picture quality of both devices (especially Epic) is also pretty awesome, not just resolution/size.

Epic = Super device, shitty OS

you beat me to the punch. it wont even sync to google calender yet.

wrong. my pre finally gave out so i just jumped ship last week to an epic and couldn't be happier. it syncs perfectly with google calender. where exactly do you get your info? btw, i'm really surprised but so far i'm not missing webos at all. sure there are things that are a little better about the ui, but the advantages that the epic hardware and android have right now far out ways any shortcomings, imo.

And what is Android's market share and growth compared to webOS?

The droids have the popularity and personality of the McDonald's hamburger.

You know what? I would tend to agree with that. I've had the Epic for a while now, and I definitely miss WebOS's notifications and multitasking. I miss being able to apply small tweaks to the OS without having to completely flash the phone with a 3rd party ROM, which always tends to introduce some other issue.

On the other hand, I can chew throw my entire inbox in the time it used to take me to open just 1 email on my Pre. And I really like thinking, "You know? An app for this would be very useful. I'm sure someone made one." Contrast that with "An app would be useful, but I doubt anybody bothered to make a WebOS version." I like that I don't need an app that reboots my phone every night.

I love swiftkey. Never thought I could survive without a physical keyboard, but I've probably used the Epic's keyboard fewer than 10 times. I only use it to type a tricky password.

I love how video/youtube playback actually works and doesn't stop hundreds of times in the middle.

I can't even tell you how much better I like the Epic than the Pre. I can just get so much more done with it. It is that much more useful to me. And I didn't even have to mod the Epic to make it bearable. With the Pre, I had to install a compcache kernel and overclock the device just to keep myself from throwing it out a window in frustration!

I wish that WebOS would have caught on like all of us wanted it to. But the fact is, it didn't. The reality sucks, but it's time to admit it just didn't catch on like it should have.

I'd go back to WebOS in a heartbeat if it ever caught on, but it isn't going to. It's going to suffer the same fate as the iPAQ.

Yes, the iPAQ. Who ever heard of an iPAQ anymore? In 5 years, the same will be said of the Pre.

I dare you to test drive the Epic for your 30 day return window. Just realize you aren't going to be exercising your return option.

you know, i pretty much agree with everything you just said. people hanging on to a brand for simple loyalty is ridiculous when there are much better options to suite your individual needs/wants. don't get me wrong, i really liked my pre and love the community behind it but my new epic is VASTLY better in almost every way. even the notifications are great on android, which is the strongest thing about webos imo. if anyone's pre is failing on them and don't want to wait for new hardware and are worried about switching, don't be. try it and see. if you don't like then you can always trade it in within the 30days.

A supermodel, with the brain of a baboon.

It really hurts you to see the Pre fail over and over again, doesn't it?

Sprint better get some love!!

wow. So the early adopters on sprint get screwed again? First with the pre plus and now with this... Idk if hpalm is aware but big red is mostly interested in selling android phones and if they're geting the iphone in early 2011 I dnt see where selling the pre2 fits into their plans. The pre plus didn't sell well on verizon what makes them think it's gonna workout better this time around?.... SMH... My only hope is for Hpalm to announce a superphone at CES that will be going to sprint.... Not 6 months after it's announced, like the last time, but shortly after.

it will be interesting to see if big red will be more interested in promoting pre sales this time around...

It will be interesting to see if they screw with the functions of the phone. in effect, making the droid more desirable.?

im on sprint and everytime i go in there i have some douche doing backflips to sell me a damn android phone. i luv the pre and i hope it sells well this time around, but its gunna take a lot to convince all these android fanboy sprint employees to wanna sell these phones. you know how these techies are with their OS loyalies. i mean look at us. they are only going to promote the OS they chose. i honestly dont see the pre selling too well unless its priced much less than the other high end phones

Really? The last few times I've gone into a Sprint store, they haven't really pushed anything. I went with my girlfriend who wanted a Pre, and they didn't try and push her to the Evo or Epic. Also, I don't think I've met a Sprint rep, or any carrier sales rep for that matter, who is a techie. Most of them are young adults/teens who just sell phones and want a commission. When my knowledge of a particular phone as an average user outstrips a sales rep's, I would hesitate to call them a techie.

Not me. I guess I'm waiting for CES.

Same here!

will be interesting to see if verizon advertises the phone like they do with the droid.

I wish the Sprint folks get some love BUT BEING ON VERIZON I WILL BE GETTING THIS BABY.

No thanks. Verizon can have it. I'm not wasting my upgrade on a minor spec bump (I'm already at 1ghz). I'll wait for the real device on Sprint.

+1

+1

I think that Palm already said that they would

I think that Palm already said that they would

if 2.0 is all its cracked up to be mayb we wont even need new hardware for awhile because our phones are gunna run as smooth as butta

No you are not.

Uh, actally ur not. OMAP 3400 architecture @ 1ghz OMAP 3600 architecture @ 1ghz.

3400 = 65nm
3600 = 45nm (BIG diff)

Glad ur happy with it tho. =)

What is ?

Are you saying that the only thing better than both of those chipsets is nothing?

Deep.

its like != meaning "not equal"

BASIC lives!

i luv talkin specs as much as the next techie, but in the end does any of it realllly matter as long as the phone runs smoothly and opens things fast? people are complaining that this next pre only has a 1 ghz processor. its like really? u are COMPLAINING about that? these people dont realize with this new processor and the under-the-hood enhancements done with 2.0 that this phone is gunna b super fast and snappy. ill put every dime to my name that the ui is is ultra smooth (due to the gpu acceleration of the ui thats being put into place). overpowering the processor is actaully a bad thing, its eats your batter. also i bet the RAM thats put into this phone is updated from the 512 thats in the pre +. so, take a look at what we are actually dealing with here... a MUCH more powerful processor, plenty of speedy RAM, and more efficent software... you know what that means? a fuckin fast phone. i bet the new pre runs phenomenally.

Yeah, I hate having to keep harping on this point, but you're exactly right. The battery savings alone from the 3600 architecture running at 1Ghz vs. the 3400 makes this comparison obviously in favor of the new processor.

3600 runs cooler, faster and much more efficiently.

That said, I feel the same way as the OP. I'm happy enough with the 1Ghz I get from the Sprint Pre (and eventually WebOS 2.0) to wait for the Pre HD or whatever they call it to drop eventually.

sprint. new palm phone. please. that is all.

sprint. new palm phone. please. that is all.

lets hope verizon takes this opportunity to do palm right and roll this phone out with all the options functioning properly.

i am in for the upgrade !

I agree sprint better get something. My friend at sprint told me last month that in november they would get something but who knows lol

I'm on Sprint and will stay on Sprint. Even though this isn't news for us, it really doesn't matter, I'm just glad to hear something happening here in the US. So a big thumbs up to seeing some aciton looking to take place here in the US.

Ok so this time Verizon get the palm pre 2. and sprint gets Palm pre 2 plus or HD :D

Good to see Palm doing at least something then just having everyone wait.. But for me as a Sprint customer.. Im still going to wait for whats going to be shown in CES.. Even if this pic was showing it from a Sprint data base I just feel that this Pre 2 is not worth me using my upgrade when i already have it doing 1Ghz speeds, I can live with the finger prints and cracks for 3 more months.. Cus I will go Banana's if I was to use my upgrade for this spec bump and then see 3 months later a tru next Gen Phone.. Patience is a virtue

+1 patience is a virtue indeed. Im on sprint and will wait to see what happens at CES.

Hi all,

I love the customer service on V, but that's it.....they are very overpriced and since I still have my Centro, I didn't realize until it came up on this site, the mess V made with the GPS and then charges $10 extra!

Take care, Jay

Switch to Sprint Jay, hahaha.

you are the first person i have ever heard mention the following words in that particular order "I love the customer service on V".

i have delt with Verizons customer service before and have to say with utter confidence that Verizons best day is far worse the Sprints worst day ever was. and i hated sprint for a while.

It would obviously be in HP's best interest to get this to every carrier they can before CES, getting the masses in love with WebOS 2.0. That way they can sell 1,000,000 "PalmPads by HP" in the first quarter. Now the question is whether Dan Hesse still had a bitter taste in his mouth from the first Pre's lack of sales.

This is going to be the last Palm branded phone, I guess. Not really worth an upgrade. And so with a whimper, not a roar, Palm will once again fade.......

All hail our HP Overlords! Bring on the 4" Super AMOLED slate!

i have been on sprint and on verizon for the past few years, one work phone one personal. i get treated pretty much the same by both companies when calling cs, not great but not terrible either. sprint has a better plan, but sprint cannot touch the coverage verizon has at least in my area.

that is so true. the coverage is great in my area. Dallas has 4G. I don't know about anyone else's mailbox, but i have been getting hammered by the big 3 to switch and for free phones. I want a Palm Phone period. a 4G superphone.

oops

I swear if sprint doesn't get a new device i will fall down on the ground and cry like a baby...seriously. i can't take another slap in the face. we will see nov 20th and 21st if anything proves different.

LOL!! to be honest, i'm feel the same way :( come on sprint, please? Something!? *sniff*

You know... I love webOS but my upgrade date is next month so I will not be waiting for 6 months to get a superphone Palm on Sprint so I will most likely get the Epic. Sad but true. A nice thing about Sprint is that I get an upgrade every year so maybe Palm will have an even better phone out by next year. I might actually just go with the "Palmpad" that should be coming out in the next few months. I know HP will be focusing more on tablets anyway so the tablets might be higher quality than any future Palm phone.

"I swear if sprint doesn't get a new device i will fall down on the ground and cry like a baby..."

Whoah there - it's just a phone. I like my Pre a lot too, (and spend too much time tweaking it for relaxation as well as MORE POWER) but not nearly as much as getting a spontaneous hug from my kids or wife, or deer grazing in my front yard. Perspective...

Amen to that. A phone is a tool, a very cool tool in many cases, but a tool nonetheless. Perspective is indeed necessary.

I want it to come to sprint now, cuz chances are the super device(s) will be tied to a specific carrier and I dont want to get screwed over and have to wait even longer for the device to come to sprint if they get looked over on the super device... :(

HPalm needs to get some balls and release 3-4 form factors on ALL carriers, at the same time!!!

Fuck exclusivity agreements, it should be illegal!

I concur. Regarding exclusivity agreements. Just another way to screw consumers.

It is only a 1GHz bump but don't forget it comes with 2.0 webOS as well.

I see 2.0 being released to all carriers shortly after launch.

True but with the wait times on updates from Verizon I'm not willing to sit around until January-March of 2011 for VZ to decide the older Pre Plus's can have it.

Yeah I agree, I am a little bummed that it won't be coming to Sprint, still have the original Pre here on Sprint. But let Verizon have this one, it's just a re-release anyway with a minor hardware change. As long as Sprint gets the new Pre next year when my contract it up, I'll be a happy camper :)

Uhmmm, who said it "won't be coming to Sprint"? Maybe it will come to Sprint, maybe it won't, but this is just telling us it is coming to Verizon. So don't get bummed yet.

IF it come with webOS 2.0, is 2.0 around the corner for everyone else as well?

everyone will get 2.0, hopefully that will speed the phone up enough to where I can wait and hold my upgrade for the super device... cuz 1ghz OCed palm minus drains the battery mad quick

Why hasn't Palm officially announced anything yet if thats the case? Its already the 14th.

Exactly, what the hell is Palm being so secretive about? Do they really think that someone is going to steal the outdated specs or the already been done design of the Pre 2? Why not go ahead and officially announce that it is coming and give a date. At least people can plan for when their contract comes up and they don't get sucked in by the Android. Or in my case, eaten by the Apple.

who knows, maybe Palm offered Sprint the Pre Plus and they turned it down because they still had too many Pres? I see the Pre 2 as a replacement to the Plus and al carriers will get new phones after CES.

or maybe Sprint turned it down because they're just too obsessed about Android right now!!

Sprint is not obsessed with Android. If anyone is obsessed with Android it's Verizon. Anyway, Sprint wouldn't turn down a phone based on certain Android devices they have now. I'm thinking IF they did turn down the Pre 2 it's just because they didn't see the value in something that doesn't have momentum. Sprint took a chance on the first Pre and that/this phone has been nothing but a heartache. From build quality to the hassle of all the updates that Palm has released due to missing functions. I say Sprint wants to make sure this time that the build quality will be right before they consider picking this up. Personally, I want an all touch screen phone with a 3.9 inch screen. But that's just me.

Yes i agree...verizon is in luv with android. I doubt that sprint would reject the pre 2 based on a few issues with old hardware. I remember having the touch pro and that pos has so many issues. That keyboard went dead at least 5 times. That didnt stop sprint from carrying the touch pro 2. Actually i got the touch pro because sprint just upgraded me from the mogul after i called asurion to get it replaced. Same with the touch pro to touch pro 2.

A year ago Sprint pushed me into a Pre because my Touch Pro had so many software issues. Although I never had one issue with the hardware. Then I got my Pre and I have had numerous issues with the hardware but no issues with the software. However Sprint has never offered to switch my Pre to a different device. They just keep give me another busted refurb Pre.

dude, have u been in a sprint store lately? they have posters of the EVO and Epic everrrywhere and the sprint salesmen pretty much tackle you and throw an adroid phone in your face

I do hope we Sprint Palm Pre owners get it at the same time as Big Red. I wont be the first to say we've been waiting a damned long time.

I believe I am thru with palm, far to little far to late. Would have been done with months but android is trash. Just hope my phone last till there is a phone worthy of buying. Game over palm you snooze you lose. Won't be before long that apple will be on every carrier.

Sprint is where the magic happens. Palm knew that, HP will have to learn it the hard way =P

HP should market this like their laptops with some big stars behind it. I wanna see Jay-Z rockin WebOS

get the dr.dre edition of the palm pre.

I find it ironic that people are requesting edition of phone that lacks gapless playback to be endorsed by a DJ.

not to mention the hardware doesn't look cool enough to me to think Dre would rock it.

So the carrier with the soon to be limited data plan gets the new phone but the carrier with the customers who first supported Palm doesn't? If us Sprint users don't get this(just like the Pre/Pixi Plus) then either Palm is done with Sprint or vice-versa.

You sprint crybabies need to get a life. This phone isn't even very cool anyway. Also, how are you the first customers that have supported Palm? Palm has ALWAYS been on the big carriers. You got the pre 6 months earlier and we apparently are NEVER going to hear the end of it.

Luckily the loyal Sprint customers did support the Pre because if Palm had just relied on Verizon and AT&T sales of the Pre, they would of had to sell off long before July 2010.

If Palm had launched on Verizon instead of Sprint, people would be talking about webOS and iOS being the major players. By giving Sprint a 6-month exclusive, they allowed the Droid to steal their thunder. Imagine the "iDon't" commercial with a Pre. They screwed up royally by starting on Sprint. It seems HP learned their lesson.

As for Verizon, by the time Pre Plus came along, they already had the Droid bringing home the bacon, so why would they care about a device with weak sales on a weak carrier?

Nah, VZ sold their soul to Motorola and droid before CES 09. I'm sure Pre was offered and VZ said "we'll sell it, but what's in it for us". And they offered to Sprint and Sprint said "We'll make it our flagship device" and offer great service plans. Then Palm came up short on delivery.

I think if the pre had come out on Verizon it would have been fine. After waiting 6 months to get the phone it was only slightly better. I think people on Verizon wanted to get something a little better at that point as android phones came out like every month. I think the pre was better than those phones but maybe just didn't look as high end or feel it.

I still have my launch day Pre. It's sitting in a drawer collecting dust. At this point, I'm not even sure which drawer.

Oh well, the Palm thing was fun while it lasted. Just doesn't hold a candle to the Epic 4G, however.

I think this is a relaunch of what they wanted in the original Pre. If this thing is as snappy, quick and responsive as the iphone, I think it will sell nicely until the super devices hit the market.

with new hardware and webOS 2.0, I would hope it is a very nice device.

Also, calm down about it coming to Sprint...fact is someone got this screen shot on Big Red, it doesnt mean Sprint or AT&T doesnt have the same training in place.

no way this is what the "original pre" was suppose to be. the Pre plus maybe, but not this. At the Pre's launch, it had one of the fastest processors out there. Both the 3Gs and Droid have it.

This is the Pre 1.75 that was suppose to land in june. But w/o being able to get WebOS 2 out in time, in addition to on their last dollar... we see it now, in it's very awkward market position

+1... this new phone WILL run iphone smooth. i dont think they have a choice in the matter. its either it runs smoothly, or it doesnt sell at this point in the game

Who takes these pictures so close to the screen? zoom out and let us read the whole message, sheesh :)

HAHA. Everyone is getting mad and its just a rumor. HAHA

Hey, it's what we do :)

I hope nobody takes all of this too seriously. The phones will turn up where they do, whenever they do, with some set of features we have no control over.

Past there the chatter is purely entertainment value.

This doesn't guarantee that Verizon will get it first. Just that their reps are in need of the most training.

+1 LMAO

I'm sooo getting it once it comes out. I'm on verizon :) Hope this comes out soon. The only thing that's gonna suck is moving all my pics and videos and whatnot over to the new phone.

not for the phone but yes for the 2.0.. Can't wait!

sprint better get something!!!

aGPS?

I am on Sprint and cant be upset until March when I can upgrade but I can forsee being pretty upset if nothing is available by then by way of WebOS devices...

I had til December (weird warranty replacement) to pick a new device on sprint and I couldn't wait any longer so I caved and got an evo so now I have 30 and if nothing new with webos is on Sprint by then I'm stuck until next August :'(

Glad it's not coming to Sprint. Better be a soft launch, as lame as this update is.

part of me hopes it does not come to sprint because then I will not be tempted to buy this and I will wait for the next better phone.

Verizon will botch and neuter this pre as well.

There will always be a better phone coming out.......That is why i get annoyed at those people saying they are leaving Palm for an Epic or an Evo. Do you really think HTC and Samsung are gonna be showing off the Epic and Evo at CES? No they will also be showing off the next big thing!! So if this Pre 2 came out next week, i dont buy arguement for choosing an epic or evo if you really love WebOS.

You're right about HTC and Samsung, but the difference is that they WILL be coming out with something new. Those who switched back in June will be able to upgrade next May. When will the Palm "super device" be out? No one knows when or if it will be... And if it is announced at CES they will be able to switch back to webOS then too.

I don't see the harm in switching for something that is going to make you happy. You're right there will always be new devices but if you are going to be constantly waiting for the "next big thing" you'll be just that ... Constantly waiting and never switching up...

Yeah, but there will probably be upgrades to the phones that they switched to at CES also.

I love WebOS, and I loved my Pre when it first came out.

That being said, the Epic absolutely destroys the Pre in terms of what you can actually do with it. I don't care if Sammy introduces some "next big thing" at CES because I have a great device in my hand right now. Can you say that about your Pre?

I sure couldn't have said that. I had to install a compcache kernel and overclock the device just to keep from smashing it with a meat tenderizer. I haven't even bothered rooting the Epic yet, because it already does everything I want and more.

I hope the iPAQ, er.. I mean, I'm sorry.., the Pre makes a comeback, I really do. I'm sure HP will do a great job with Palm like it did with Compaq.

that's a ridiculous argument. i just switched to the epic because my pre went tits up and i needed a new phone NOW. my girlfriend just switched to the evo because her pre stopped working and she need a new phone NOW. should we have just gotten another old ass pre on sprint? who care's what they are showing off at CES 3 months from now?

Hmmm. WebOS 2.0, but on a craptacular device release. I can see HP not really making a huge push on this device.

It would simply get killed if they made a big scene about it now. I can see why they'd put the phone out now, but I would advertise it as part of a slew of new devices come CES, before making a big hub-bub about a simple upgrade that doesn't catch up to the competition.

Besides, I see no reason to upgrade even if it did release on Sprint... New devices coming 2011, better hardware virtually guaranteed, plus the fact that the Homebrew community will need time to catch up and put out all new patches means no toying with my phone for a few months after upgrading.

No thanks. Even if it came on Sprint, I don't want it.

if what we seen is what's coming to Verizon, then who cares is the same old pre with a faster cpu and you can get that with the old one by over clocking it, so what is the big deal here? get me 4" screen without a sliding keyboard and i be a happy camper.

"... preparing Verizon employees for device training on the Palm Pre 2."

Something Sprint forgot to do for the Pre

And VZW taught their reps how to convince an interested Palm customer to get a Droid instead.

My local Sprint reps were very knowledgeable. The problem with the Sprint launch was a shortage of hardware.

Jumped from Verizon to Sprint to get the Pre on launch day, not going back. NEW PHONES ON SPRINT.

I've got an upgrade in march, lets see what happens between now & then...

ps. I'm on verizon ;)

I will get it. I may think twice if the free hotspot feature is disabled. That feature makes my Pre Plus way better than any phone ... in my opinion

Good call by HPalm, launch on the provider that cuts the nuts off your GPS and threw Palm under the bus on the Pre Plus' launch. "Excuse me, I'd like to look at the Palm Pre." "No you don't, you want a Droid."

I have the EVO 4g, And I haven't had a chance to use the 4g. I need my $$$ back its not in LOS ANGELES yet.(joke)...I'll wait for a simple palm LED phone at ces..

Wow, I don't know the deal between HP|Palm and Sprint, but that's just not right for us sprint users.

For god sake... How much more can we take. (i.e. 8gb, 256mb(Ram) plus the annoying "Too many cards error" >:-(

I think I'm done here.
:(

I think I'm done here.
:(

dltdhyitaotwo

With my Sprint Pre + overclocked I have all the specs of the Pre2 already and it runs like a dream, although I will admit a bit hot when maxed out. Less load on the stock cpu of the new device would give us better battery life, no? One can only imagine overclocking this baby from 1GHz to a minor bump or two. Faster is better with less load. Nice! The real ? will be if our Sprint boards will fit inside. If they won't give it to us, there are other ways...

I might upgrade if the GPS works, although I don't see why it'd be any different from the Pre Plus in this regard...

I swear to God Almighty, if Palm bones Sprint Pre users AGAIN, I'm switching to Android just as damn as I can make it happen. I love WebOS & hate Android. But, at this point, it's a matter of principal & I'm done bending over for Palm.
WebOS is good but it's not that damned good!

+1

You should be angry at Sprint and not Palm.

Pre 2 would be perfect for me. My launch day pre has been replaced 3 times and number 4 is clinging to life. I am fine with the same phone with better build quality, and something that won't make me pay an extra $10 a month for 4g which isn't in my area anyway, and apparently is nearly useless due to it's hunger for your precious battery life on these phones with unnecessarily large screens.

The biggest reason to think this phone is not coming to Sprint is because Sprint has made no indications of stopping the sales of the Pre.

I really don't want to go to Verizon but.....

no thanks

my preplus is @1ghz already, and I just ordered the Touchstone mod for the Seidio back so it wouldn't kill my battery. I'm fine till january, and probably a bit beyond :)
