Sprint Palm Pixi drops to $50 after rebate 29

The Palm Pixi on Sprint is officially down to $50 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a $200 instant rebate. Weren't we just asking how Palm could juice webOS sales? This is probably a good way - we're pleased by it because it's appropriately low compared to the WiFi-touting Palm Pixi Plus on Verizon, because they're dropping the point-of-sale price instead of making the mail-in rebate larger, and because, well, Palm needs to move inventory.

Great, on Monday I was going to upgrade the second line on my account to the pixi. Now I get an extra 50 bucks off.

I'm pretty sure it's sprint who sends and receives rebates. Palm has already sold the phone to sprint, who is now selling it on their own behalf.
also if anyone knows someone who forgot to send the rebate in jus have them call sprint. I forgot to send mine in once, called them up, told them I never received it, and they put a 100 credit on my account within minutes.
sprint is usually good about stuff like that, but it sure would be better not having rebates at all

My sister-in-law just got her Pixi last sunday. Hopefully the Pre drops to $100 when my wife gets hers.
Get the devices out there, app sales will make up the difference and then some.

agree with rebate scam.I had three friends forget to return $100 rebate for the pre.
When I got my pre everyone was complaining about mail in rebates on the blogs, so the guy at the store did it all for me. I'm sure once people stopped complaining they went back to the old way of doing things.
well they are retards!!! It takes one min to fill sprints rebate form out!!! I do it in the store and hand it off.... Its there fault they were lazy and forgot not palm's!! Dumbass

So you pay $149 for a Pixi out the door; you pay $99 for an iPhone 3G. The rebate must die.
The cost of the Pixi in the long run is way less than the iPhone 3G. The rebate is fine. Even if you don't don't the rebate it's still cheaper.
I love WebOS but am strting to think I need to get more in tune with Androiid over the long term. We'll see what happens later this year.
My wife and I have the Palm Pre. I like it, but there are always the times I show it to a friend and it freezes up. Play a video file and it would not recognize it--have to close app and restart. Lost the plug for USB and got a nice crack coming from itn to the screen. Won't charge on the Touchstone. Lose GPS ability. Have to yank out the battery almost every week. Had to get WebOS Dr. to fix my Sprint Navigation. Screen freezes when answering phone. Boatload of whacky stuff.
I bought my son a Samsung Moment. I tell you, this phone is awesome. 100 dollars, lightning quick processor. Opens full length films almost instantaneously---while the Pre is chugging away for 20-30 seconds. Tons of apps---and tons are free, and there are a lot of good ones. The web is WAY faster etc...
And SOLID. This phone is not hade of the same crappy plastic of the Pre. And holds up to 32gb of data on a microSD.
Pixi vs Moment is a joke. The Moment is a helluva phone. I really like it. I still like my Pre, bugs and all.
so if its so screwed up, get a new one thru insurance.... say u lost your phone so when u get a new one u can still mess around with your old one.... and if you just restarted your phone once a day it would solve alot of your problems... it seems everyone bitches about the too many cards or lag... they prolly have had there phones on for a month and installed lots of crap and never restarted or did a luna reset.....
leave the bitchin to verizon customers, they actually have alot to bitch about, high prices, high prices and shitty customer service....

I've been waiting for the Sprint pixi price to drop since the VZ pixi plus hit the scene. I just became eligible for an upgrade and my trusty Centro is showing its age.
Now I'm waiting to see what 1.4 does for the pixi's performance. I'd go with the Pre, but I really prefer the pixi form factor and keyboard and I don't care about gaming.
I've had lots of Palm products and really hope the company rebounds. The big question is should I pull the trigger and get the pixi or wait for a new product come July?
I just bought my Pixi 2 days ago, so naturally I freaked when I saw this headline. But I called Sprint just now, and they're crediting my account for the price difference. Woo hoo! This price drop is great news for recent (and soon-to-be) Pixi owners. Thanks for the heads up! :)
Dropping the price of a phone already perceived to be of limited quality isn't going to help sales of the product. Rather, this price drop just puts the Pixi at what most people perceive its value to be: relatively worthless.
the pre is 79.99 and the pixie is 29.99 at radioshack. No rebates.
