Sprint Replaces NFL Mobile Live with Sprint Football Live 29
Verizon may have intercepted the rights to the official NFL app from Sprint, but that hasn't stopped the Overland Park, Kansas based company from offering up professional and college football's latest goings-on through its handsets. Sprint bound webOS users will discover that the previously pre-installed NFL Mobile Live app has been automatically (!?) replaced with the Sprint Football Live app.
Per the official press release, Sprint Football Live is "the one-stop pro and college football destination that allows you to follow your favorite teams on game day and everyday". Gone, of course, is the ability to steam live NFL audio and video from the app, replaced instead with the in-app "live game center" to keep you up to date.
Thanks to HelloNNNewman for the tip!

Automatically? I think this was part of the 1.4.1.1 update.
that's what he meant
It is automatic. Sprint Football Live App is on my phone after updating my phone last night & the NFL App is gone.
I wonder if the NFL app still works if you choose not to update to 1.4.1.1
Nope. All it shows when you start it is a message saying the NFL app is being replaced by Sprint Football Live and to please update your firmware to get it.
Im fine with not having the live streaming. It never worked well for me anyways and I'm sure I can use Radiotime to listen to the games anyways.
I will miss the live streaming greatly. I'm thinking of dropping sprint for this.
No you won't be able to use radiotime to listen. The NFL prohibits local radio stations from broadcasting the audio over the internet, which is all that radiotime does. You'll get some alternate programming where everyone actually listenting to it OTA will get the game. You can use radiotime to get the pregame, but not the game.
Compared to nfl mobile live this new app sucks. The lack of audio streaming is a crime and I'm pretty po'd about it. For those of you who never used it, I don't care. You apparently aren't very big football fans.
I Agree this new app sucks A$$, I'm po'd the most about sprint told me on the phone that the live streaming will be on this app.
I'm gonna miss it. I actually used it a lot more often than I originally thought I would. That live streaming kept me in the loop on my Vikings when I couldn't get to a TV.
Maybe the CFL will finally get some love.
but will the remove NFL patch still work?
Go Team Sprint. Actually, I will miss the NFL Network TV Channel on my Pre. Boooo
damn you verizon for outbidding sprint!
How about a Sprint HOCKEY Live app?? Would be awesome to have one now, as the playoffs are approaching, and on trade deadline day, etc. Please... give me an NHL app!! :)
Very cool of Sprint to make sure the basic functionality wasn't lost for even a moment. Personally never used the audio/video myself, but browsing scores and stats from the phone was nice and an easy way to settle bar bets. Thanks, Sprint.
I'll miss the audio streaming of the games. HOWEVER, unlike those that bitch and say they are leaving, I still love Sprint and have no intention on doubling my bill with Verizon.
I'm fine with this since I rarely used the audio and video. Plus I like college ball as well.
Happy to have college football in the mix. I spend more time on CFB than the NFL September - November anyway......and one less reason I have to patronage ESPN which has become the SEC Sports network.
Just went through the ap and as of right now there is NO college football. The teams section, "My Team", News are all NFL only.
Hopefully that will be changing soon.
The only feature I want out of this app is the ability to delete it. Same with NASCAR.
I was worried that Sprint was just going to drop the app all together, I'm glad they didn't. I'll miss the audio, didn't really care about the video. I just hope they didn't get rid of the current drive screen.
This is interesting...I had signed up for Team Alerts (SMS 6351) with the old NFL app. But now that I upgraded to 1.4.1.1 they're still coming; just got one today. Sure enough when I launch the new Sprint Football app the "My Team" and "Team Alerts" preferences look just like the old NFL app preferences and my selections have been preserved across the app switch. Nice!
The audio streaming came in incredibly handy last season as I followed my cousin's rookie year in the NFL on the other side of the country. I'll miss that feature, but life goes on.
Spill the beans. Who is your cousin?
yessssssss NHL live app would soooo get me hotttttt purrrrrr purrrrrr. And the football logo changed a day after I upated 1.4.1.1 so I'm sure it happened to all sprint nfl live enabled phones so they wouldn't have to pay tariffs to big rrrrrrrrrred(aka vlad the impaler).
Great. Now where's the patch to hide it?
my nascar and sprint football live won't even load up...keeps saying unable to connect to server...try again later! is anyone else having this problem? whats the fix...i notice all my other apps got updated to 1.4.1 and my nascar and football app are...nascar version 1.24.0 and my football is version 1.35.0! whats the deal with this? any help is appreciated...its almost football time, lol.
From what i hear NFL upped their price significantly so Sprint didn't even pursue to renew the license.
I'll miss it...but we do have ESPN Mobile now which is nice.
Have you ever heard about Nascar pilots? In the future they'll replace the football live with Nascar competitions. I advise people to buy cheap Nascar tickets online from a special site. In this way, there won't be the risk of sold out tickets. Good luck!
