Sprint Stores getting daily post-launch Pre shipments 16

by Derek Kessler Mon, 01 Jun 2009 8:56 pm EDT

Sprint Store Fully expecting to sell out of the Palm Pre on a daily basis, we’ve now heard from multiple sources that Sprint Stores will be receiving daily shipments (Sundays excluded) of the hot new phone. This stands in contrast to the launch of the BlackBerry Storm on Verizon, where many stores sold out on day one and didn’t get in shipments for several days. So, if you show up on Saturday and they’ve sold out by the time you get to the door, call or stop back in on Monday, they may very well have more in stock by then. Or Tuesday.

Thanks to all the tipsters that sent this in!

Don't know what to believe anymore, really hope to get it the first day out...

yay!!!! im really busy on the 6th, and the 7th im traveling so on the 8th i can get it. yippee

My local sprint store just let me put a deposit down on a pre. I filled out a contract for a non-refundable deposit to get on a waiting list for the Palm Pre to guarantee I would recieve one of the units included in their first shipment. They also told me that they were getting 10 units in with the first weeks shipment. They will call me when they receive the phone and I have 48 hours to pick it up or i forfeit my deposit. No longer have to think about waiting in line. Seeing as how my puppy just dumped my centro into his water dish this weekend, I am feeling pretty lucky to be on any kind of list at the moment! F-in A Cotton.

When I went in to Sprint they said there are no wait lists and they couldn't take a deposit. They said to come back on the 6th.

I went to 2 Best Buys and 1 Radio Shack and they said the same thing.

How are people getting on wait lists and giving deposits????????

Seriously. I'm getting in line in the pre-dawn hours, that's all I know for sure!

But they still wont sell any to employees or third party accounts until August. This is not fair.

This is good.

A LOT OF HYPE IN ATTEMPT TO MAKE BIG SALES! "Supply and Demand"

My local Sprint store told me that anyone stopping by after they've sold their initial lot will be put on a list. As they receive new shipments the people on this list will be called and given 2 days to pick up their pre.

MORE HYPE!

I was told the same thing at my local Sprint store, including the 2 days to pick up when called. Sounds like they got the same memo.

For those people who are claiming to be on waiting lists, and have made deposits I'm claiming BS. Every Sprint Store I have called have said NO Sprint Stores PERIOD are doing any types of wait lists or pre orders. The only wait lists are if you show up and they are out of stock, you can be notified when your name comes up next in line. And just a word of warning, don't sign up for multiple wait lists. I was told more than once that if you sign up for more than one your name is taken off the ones prior and you only remain on the latest one. So unless you can move to a higher spot on a different wait list stay put with the one you end up on, if you miss out on the first batch. Good Luck.

I called my one corportate sprint store last week and they said they did do preorders but were all out. :( I didnt get on the list. So I really think SOME stores are doing this (not all).

Guess what dude, if you've ever managed a business you would know that it's often the case that the manager has much decision-making power. Add on top of that that Sprint has even less control over non-corporate stores. Sprint has SOME control but, if you owned a business, sprint would not be able to tell you how to run your business. Given all of that, just because you can't find a store near you that has a list doesn't prove that no store is using a list.

Since Sprint themselves are not releaseing any information about this, we only have reports by other customers to go on. (Yes, credibility must be considered.) If you know much about scientific reasoning, a sample of 3 or 10 in a given geographic region does NOT constitute a large and varied scientific sample of stores.

Therefore, you are in no position to tell others that they lie about being on lists or their lists are falase or they will be screwed.

Life is like a crap shoot and you only get one roll of the dice. After that, it's what you make of it.

CORPORATE Stores will not be doing "pre-orders" all wait list and pre orders before launch are done by non-corporate stores. It's against Sprint's policy to do pre-orders. There will be a wait list AFTER launch that customers interested will be placed on to NOTIFY them when the stores receive a shipment of the phone this still will not guarantee a phone for ANYONE. All sales through a corporate Sprint store are on a first come first serve basis. If there are any actual corporate Sprint Stores talking pre-orders, or are promising to hold a phone for anyone they are violating policy and are not following the Pre launch protocol...

Here's the deal. Palm is having quality issues with the Pre... they rushed it and are having to hand test each one. Suggest waiting until they get better yields and these units are no longer on allocation. From the Wall Street Journal:
