Sprint Users: How is webOS 1.4.5 treating you? 172

by Robert Werlinger Thu, 19 Aug 2010 2:12 pm EDT

After a wait that seemed to stretch on for ages after the update started hitting European carriers, Sprint users finally have the latest and greatest from Palm.  The most notable change brought about by the update was ability for users to install indie PDK titles, and other fixes include those for the downloading of  podcasts, the correct entry of text in the browser and power and battery use optimizations were included with the update as well.  The update did introduce a game save bug for those who updated over the air, but thanks to the folks over at webOS Internals, there's a patch for that. There's also a formatting bug in the notes field within Contacts for those who sync to Exchange

Now that you all have had some time to really dig in and put the update through its paces in daily use, we're curious: how is webOS 1.4.5 treating you?

no issues here

Wife works at a place w/ poor service - definitely seen battery improvements for her with the update. Not much else - But glad to be on 1.4.5 and podcasts are improved :)

really? My DrPodder is STILL acting up.. Randomly stopping and alot of "error playing file" type messages... Other then that 1.4.5 working better then Verizons 1.4.5....... o_O

Prior to the 1.4.5 upgrade, in 3G coverage with an excellent signal my Sprint TV was very jerky. After this upgrade my Sprint TV and Youtube videos appears to Stream better (little

better streaming AND battery life :).

and I think flash will be here in a 'flash' b/c it came out for android already
http://www.enterprisemobiletoday.com/features/article.php/3899021

I had no issues initially, but soon had to do the 1.4.5 WebOS doctor because none of my media files would play. No audio or video. Not even my alerts or ringtones. After the doctor, things seem to be working fine. I can even MMS video finally, which my friends with the Verizon PrePlus have been able to do all along. What kind of changes were made to extend battery life? I've not noticed any difference.

no issues here

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

yep no flash same pre battery still awfull and nothing new yep great job

haven't noticed anything different... seems the same... besides all the new PDK games in the AppCat.

zero problems.

No problems here.

Love the podcast download fix! THANK you!
Other than that all is running fine and i have noticed no major changes, good or bad.

battery life still sucks monkey balls. T minus 11 days till my new Epic 4G

Yes, because your battery life will be so much better with the Epic 4G. * rolls eyes *

No problems. In fact, I think that it might have become more stable for me. I've had problems with random luna restarts that haven't come up since the update. Maybe updating cleared out some crud?

my pre plus was luna restarting so I called verizon and got a replacement. Can't wait for flash and 1.4.5.

I emailed verizon and they said that the 1.4.5 for pixi is coming soon but for pre it is "to be announced" ??? so soon after I hope?!

I have the emails if you'd like.

I'd love to see that...waiting patiently (hits updates on verizon pixi) for the update (hits updates on verizon pixi) on my pixi plus (hits updates on verizon pixi)...you can forward (hits updates on verizon pixi) to jlatimer84...at...verizon.net (hits updates on verizon pixi).... =)

works just fine.

Pretty freakin solid. 1.4.5 running sr 71 and no issues here although i did have a random crash when using wifi and bluetooth at the same time.. maybe it was the 10 other apps i had open though. hahah. Yeah no issues. Lovin some new apps :)

No problems. But no noticeable changes either. Battery consumption still awful.

Running 1ghz Uberkernel

In regards to PDK apps, they are looking promising for actual powerful apps instead of the all the junk apps we have. Not to say all the apps are terrible, there are some great apps. It's just that most of the apps seem very novice in their design and functionality.

You do realize that overclocking increases the Pre's battery consumption?

Depends who you ask. Many people claim they have increased battery life with overclocking. Personally I haven't noticed any change. In theory it should be a wash. Overclocking may drain the battery faster, but I'm getting things done alot faster so I'm not actively using phone as much so the idle time has increased.

Actually the uberkernel has increased my battery life substantially. Overclocking would decrease battery life if you're a numbskull and set it to run at 800mhz all the time, but I have mine set to 800/250mhz, which means it's at 800 when the screen is on (ie when I am using it) and at 250- or 1/2 normal clock speed- when not using it.

My battery life is VASTLY improved.

Wow ...how did you do that ...if u don't mind sharing

how did you get your pre to run on 1ghz?

It's ok. Nothing fabulous like the updates before. But for the 'correct text entry in the browser' don't know what they meant by that cuz there is no difference with it. Lame. But love the pdk part :)

On certain websites when you are entering text into a text field AND , such as a Username or Password textfield, the page will jump to the upper left hand corner, in essence throwing the fields off the screen, especially if you are zoomed in, and hence not letting you see what your typing.

I haven't noticed it on all sites but I have come across it and it can be annoying.

No issues on 2 phones, other than having to run Emergency FSTAB Fixer on the one that I didn't doctor.

Since I upgraded I noticed my Pre sometimes just freezes for about 10 - 15 secs. It mostly happens when I'm using the browser. Like Ill be trying to login to a site and cant even type info in the login form.

Ditto!! I think my freezing has to do with data transfer via wifi or the network. Turning both off (I patched the system menu to selectively control the data radio) fixes the problem, but once the phone freezes up it's impossible to even drag the system menu down so I just have to wait through it.

This caused a full freeze once when I tried to take a picture (note the camera app opened fairly quickly). Had to pull the battery to reset.

I attribute the freezing to either a program such as TweetMe (not running with a card instance but just in the background) that is trying unsuccessfully to ping a server or a patch (have 57 installed) gone awry through the update. Going to try EPR then Doctor to fix it. I hope it's not just one of those duds off the manufacturing line!

Battery life was still bad the first day. Second day was awesome! It sipped the whole day at around 3% per hour. After that it was back to 10-12% like normal.

This is the first time after an update the UI is actually slower (for me). Everything is really jerky now. I don't like it, but I'll be overclocking again soon and I think that will help.

I thought I was the only one who noticed day two battery life to be crazy good. At the end of my work day (on day two) I still had 85% life where normally I am down below 65%. sadly it now it is back to normal. I was amazed it was so good that day.

hopefully that is just the tip of what is to come for battery life.

Battery seems to be improved alot

Pixi has been freezing more to the point where I have to remove the battery and it only happened once before the update

PDK is a great addition, playing with Navit3D, which would not be available otherwise...thx internalz!

Got a few TMC the other day even though, but think it was a memory leak with Assuran tracking soft that is now gone. Sorli...

My battery life seems to be worse after the update. Has anyone else experienced this? I have the same patches and overclocked at 800Ghz just like before the update.

Yep, mine's also worse. Not overclocking at all; stock kernel. I went from being at 50% or more by the end of the work day to being at 20% or so at 3:00.

I've looked at all the settings I can think of; no joy. I've just resigned myself to having to recharge every afternoon, but with the news about the 800/250 kernel tuning I may have to go there.

With the exception of PDK apps being available, I've been unimpressed with this update. I think my Pre is actually slower, with no battery life change what so ever. It has me worried that webOS 2 will be too much for my Pre to take, so I really hope they release new hardware at the same time.

No issues here. I'm not much of a gamer so I don't see much difference from 1.4.1.1 (yes I know about the PDK's). My Pre is still running like a champ! :)

Feels almost like I never even received an update...battery usage no different...podcast downloads?...there is a "free" app for that...maybe the next update will feel like an updated experience?

My pre actually gained the ability to do my laundry, so that's a plus. Other than that and PDK app access, nothing much else has changed.

It's hard for me to comment too much on battery life because I have a touchstone on my desk at work, so it is not really an issue for me generally.

What I did notice in the update was that the photos app is much quicker than it used to be, it still takes time to load the high quality detail, but swiping through photos no longer pauses like it did before.

Seems like the most stable version yet.

Battery has been much improved for me and I haven't had to restart to play a PDK game yet.

The TMC error is almost non-existant. The couple of times I have had it, if I try opening the app again, it works.

Note: I don't use Preware or anything because when I tried it my battery life and stability tanked, plus I had this odd bright spot at the bottom of the screen.

I love the new PDK games. It feels like a new device!

Getting better battery life and my camera is alot snappier to load. Before I had to launch it two or three times before it will work right. Now it's press and 3-4 sec later it's up. Still may seem long to others but from going to 3-4 restarts and a 10-15 sec wait....the camera is super fast now.

my pre freezes and is weird but don't want to reset it because I have to start all my games over again anyone knows how to backup the games and not start over

My Pre is also doing some freezing. I did install the UberKernal and thought that might be what is was but after un-install, still have the same issues. I'm beginning to think I have a sub-par unit - loosing preferences, freezes, other little "not supposed to happen" things. Still, 1.4.5 seems to have made my unit a bit more unstable than it already was.

Mine is working much better. My brother's Pre crashed a few days after the update and he had to reset the entire device.

I'm not a Sprint user but I gotta say 1.4.5 actually did what it was supposed to. Fixed the webpage bug and didn't make anything worse. Good update in my books!

How was entering text on a website improved? The 1st letter is still not automatically capitalized, the screen doesn't follow the cursor when you type off the screen...

I replied to jyaden24 about that above. When entering text in a text field the window would jump to the upper left corner, especially if zoomed in. Kind of annoying when you can't see what your typing.

In early OS builds, the text fields would get automatically capitalized in the browser, but I guess people didn't like that for username/password fields, so now it doesn't auto capitalize. Like so many things on WebOS, more user configurable options would be ideal instead of such strict 'only works one way' (and may change in the next update) that we get in the stock OS. :)

working great like usual. Palm ftw

I want Flash, haven't noticed anything really different about 1.4.5

a problem has returned. Typed letters repeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat

other then that i see nothing new in this update.

Mine did that a few times last night in the browser. That was the first time mine had ever done it. Restarted and it's been fine.

I'm having the exact same issue. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it's really bad. It usually occurs when I'm typing fast. I have a Sprint Pre. I thought this only affected Verizon Pres, and I thought they already fixed it.

The update also broke my wifi. My school uses PEAP for the wifi security and after the update it stopped connecting. Occationaly it will work but normaly it fails.

sprint pre. it happened to me seemingly after a couple of different updates but it started immediatly after i updated this time. it's happened before but it completely went away after the last update which makes me think it's a software issue. and the keys have never appeared to be physically stuck. kinda annoying.

Games seem to run better Skater Nation way smoother now but I still overclock to 800mhz just faster and smoother that way

My battery life is definitely better. Thank God, because it was *terrible*. Haven't really noticed other improvements (which isn't to say they don't exist; I just haven't noticed them).

I had some issues in updating that forced me to Doctor the phone to 1.4.5... probably for the best anyways...

Now everything is running smooth. Using Uber-Kernal and found that I don't have a "Weak" Pre - 125mhz to 800mhz works great!

Loving the new PDK apps.

New fav is the Piano (paid version) just a bit more refined than the free one... although the sound is a bit too soft.

Can't wait for AB - suppose to be this week, but we are running out of days! :P

I also recently created a twitter account and have been following @RAHULSOOD - very interesting fellow.
- Appears he recently doctored his phone to 1.4.5
- Installed Preware
- Installed an Overclock Kernel (which he loves and sees why)
- also said that they could do better with battery life
- Gave Kudos to the "Wrap Location Field" patch developer
- even noted that he asked the HP devs to work/add it

I think it is awesome that he is diving full on into the homebrew process and has the ability to directly relay/request updates to WebOS.

I can only hope/imagine that WebOS 2.0 will include the most used patches along with it's major updates.

Getting better battery life and my camera is alot snappier to load. Before I had to launch it two or three times before it will work right. Now it's press and 3-4 sec later it's up. Still may seem long to others but from going to 3-4 restarts and a 10-15 sec wait....the camera is super fast now.

No problems so far. Faster load times, 3D games load without issue, no annoying resets for no reason. I love having the the new PDK games also.

My battery life is 10x worse the before !!!!

Mine was, too. Like down to 1-3 hrs of use before kaputsville. However, I doctored (with a full erase, just to be sure ;) and now it seems normal again. Too bad all those text messages are gone forever.

My Pixi has locked up and/or just gone haywire a couple of times since upgrading. I still can't find any PDK apps to download for the Pixi -- except Monopoly.

Very subtle performance and battery life improvements. Everything works like before. The big thing is that it feels snappier than usual in general after you leave the phone alone for a lil bit, and PDK apps of course.

No issues at all, but I haven't seen any improvements either. In short: totally the same as 1.4.1.1

Sprint navigator opens properly now. Before, if it was default, it would launch from contacts but not load fully unless the program was already running. Battery is ok. I haven't overclocked again yet.

I have had a few random resets for no reason. Each time I was doing nothing special. One time the phone was even sitting next to me, doing nothing, and decided to reset. It's happened four times so far. FYI, I Doctored to 1.4.5 instead of updating. My phone needed the complete reset.

EDIT: It *seems* as though I've gotten fewer TMC errors than before I installed UberKernel, which I've yet to reinstall after Doctoring.

Also, the Camera actually functions when I want it to, but I think that has more to do with Doctoring than updating to 1.4.5.

So grateful for the download podcasts fix...now DrPodder works perfctly with all my podcasts. Other than that, no issues; I have TS @ home & work, so battery's never been an issue for me, and I OC so TMC hasn't been one either. Nothing seems to have been negatively affected by the update on my Pre.

I actually had a major issue that I haven't read about anywhere else. At first everything was fine. Then like an hour after the update, my phone started refusing to play mp3s. The problem was across all apps (Music, Pandora, Dr. Podder, streaming, and ringtones). It would just say the length of each track was 0.00 and refuse to start playing. I had to Doctor to fix it (which worked).

It's possible this was somehow caused because of kernel issues I was having. Namely, I tried to install uberkernel after the update and the phone froze halfway between. It then claimed to be running uberkernel but Govnah wouldn't overclock. I don't think this was the issue though because 1) Mp3s played for a while after the kernel problem and 2) Restoring the Palm Default kernel didn't fix the mp3 problem.

Anyway, has anyone else ever run into this?

In Youtube, more videos will not play. It seems like there is some Garbage building up when surfing and/or playing videos. JSTop can't clean it all out either.
I'm getting TMC errors again with the same Uberkernal overclock with compache.

I've had to restart Luna to get rid of the garbage, several times.

I installed Sparkle and it runs great. I can start 3d games without a restart so the TMC errors I'm getting now aren't the same as they were before.

Podcasts will all download again, but they still cut off a couple of seconds early.

So it is mixed for me.

It's working fine for me! Uber-Kernel and Govnah are working well on it, too!

Can't I notice anything different, so that is a good update!

Maybe not update's fault, but my up volume button stopped working after update

I'm doctoring back to 1.4 soon. The MMS subject bug is still there after I reported it in 1.4.1 and its a must have for me. I've had a lot of lock ups and odd things happening since I upgraded but I've got a bunch of patches and Uberkernel running so I can't blame it totally on 1.4.5.

I agree with eKalb. Browsing through my photos is a lot smoother, even in the Facebook app. I'm still using uber 500/800 govnah. My battery lasts most of the day, but I still plugin whenever I'm in the car (just in case).

been randomly losing my internet connection since the update. Probably related to the overclock patch, but it didn't happen intil the update.

******So Have I i had the overclocked patches as well and my EVO icon does not want to show up anymore nor do i have a data connection (no picture mail, email or any internet browsing) I took my phone to the sprint store and they told me they were gonna send me a new phone. I have my new phone in front of me and guess what...i cant even activate it becasue it has not data connection. I think this may be a bigger problem then people relize. IS anyone else having data connections issues??******

Jup, happens to me too (O2 GSM Pre) - it looks exactly like the old bug where there is a 3G-icon, but no data actually flows. Very annoying - every time I want to use it for something productive (and worst of all, when people are watching ;-)) it just does not work.

I also tried installing the original Kernel, but it did not help.

Still has the data sort bug in To Do lists. It seems the PIN log in screen is locking up more - something they previously addressed... No other issues.

No problems what so ever. Really the experience hasn't changed for me at all. Cant say I see any improvement in battery life either but I never had a problem before.

My Sprint Pre is a lot less laggy now. Every update so far has listed "minor performance improvements," but this is the first time that the simple act of scrolling through the app launcher hasn't been so slow that I wanted to throw my Pre into a wall. I didn't want to patch it and ruin the warranty, but without overclocking, the non-plus Pre was crap before 1.4.5. I used to get out my iPod Touch and just scroll around to see what a responsive device felt like, but now my Pre is working like it always should have.

1.4.5 update has been a great step up. My Pre seems to be faster. The update helped it's stability entering data on the web. Battery life seemed a little better. The programs load up faster.

I use the Pre constantly to run my business and my personal life. It's not a perfect business phone mainly because there is no document editing or voice notes. But it does many things well. Email me:

I know it doesn't come with webOS, but zcorder records just fine for me, check it out in preware, webos-internals feed.

No issues to report. Battery life also seems to have slightly improved.

I have had some freezes also. I probably should Dr.

They introduced a bug: when txting, there are tags being displayed.

Maybe not update's fault, but my up volume button stopped working after update

I had the same issue not too long ago - also ironically after an update.

I took it to the sprint store and was already asking questions about if I'd get a refurb or a new one, when he told me to let the techie look at it first.

After about 20 minutes, the guy air cleaned it and volume up key was working again, and I went on my way.

Well I haven't noticed anything - because just a few days before the update I made 2 changes.

1) uberkernal screenstate 500/800
2) 2600mAh battery

So my speed and battery issues were resolved prior to the update, and since I made the changes so soon, there was no way to tell how much of an improvement the update - if any - made.

However, my email is still pretty sluggish, it's been like that after 1.3.1

No problems here. This was by far the most hassle-free WebOS update for me so far, mostly due to AUPT. I haven't noticed a difference in performance since I've been running UberKernel for the past few months now. Overall, things are still running well for me.

Battery life seem better.. Oh wait that's a patch.. So my answer is "it has neglected me :("

I mostly was waiting for the update to install Uberkernel. Seems to be running fine, though I did manage to freeze my Pre with one set of Uberkernel settings. Pretty sure it was due to too much overclocking...

1.4.5 on my Sprint Pre has a much snappier feel. Navigating through cards and menus used to feel sluggish. I got used to waiting for what seemed like the Pre to get started with the task. Scrolling or swiping seems more responsive.

Battery life seems about the same. Being a smartphone, I'm not expecting miracles.

The only issue I have yet to work out is whether or not the alarm clock settings will automatically shut off or change during the night like that had been. That's been my biggest upset as I depend on them to function correctly to get me up in the morning and off to work. So far they've been fine, but only time will tell (no pun intended).

Oh, actually I noticed if I don't have the alarm icon in the tray, my alarm WILL NOT go off. So before I go to bed, I open up clock, turn off alarm, turn it back on so it appears on the tray, and I'm awaken at the correct time.

Before this update, my alarm issue was if I rebooted, it would randomly either erase ALL my alarms, or set them all to 8PM(??) - but it didn't do it after every reboot- it seem to do it after I forgot to check.

This has not occurred yet, I'll take it having to be in the notification tray over changing to time/deleting the alarm.

EPIC!!!

Maybe not update's fault, but my up volume button stopped working after update

PDF View no longer works on "larger" documents. Quits with a generic render error message. It used to work great.

I concur, my 350ish page "magazine"(31.2M) won't open, "render document failed."

I thought this update was suppost to fix issues in the browser..it has done the opposite no I have plenty of problems viewing websites...so much infact that I want to ask the webOS world if there is a way to go backwards in webOS as in go back to webOS 1.4.1 from 1.4.5? Any help would be appreciated

Its ok, everything seems to be the same as it was before the new patch.
Oh wait except for how much faster it drains the battery now! I charged it overnight and 8.5 hours later it is at 25% battery life when all I did was send a couple text messages.
All of my settings are exactly the same as 1.4.1 and back then I would have at least 50% of the battery remaining before I went to bed.

This guy is not happy.

Solid update here as well. I noticed the way improved battery life the day after the update as some other people did, but it seems to have reverted to its previous battery consumption habits. Loving the PDK apps, Radiant is flippin cool. Haven't done much internet browsing since then, so I haven't noticed the text entry fix. I also don't do podcasts, so I'm not sure about that one. I have noticed that it is a bit faster than 1.4.1.1, even with Uberkernel at 800mhz. There aren't as many mini-lags, and games/apps are loading very quickly without hiccups. I'm digging this phone more and more.

No noticeable difference for my uses. Except that there's more and better stuff to download now, of course. And I'm okay with that.

Asphalt5 is broken as a result of the update. The fact that palm releases updates with known bugs makes the decision to switch easier and easier to make!

I love 1.4.5. I've bought plenty of PDK apps, i'm no longer seeing TMC errors (running stock kernal), my battery lasts longer (unless i'm playing games), and stock apps are more responsive. No complaints.

when searching for clothing for plus size women I often run into such interesting posts

using jawbone 2 and every time it loses connection and re-connects, the volume is at lowest possible setting. This doesn't happen w/ bluetooth off, or as long as it stays connected. Any thoughts? Am I the only one? Otherwise, update is fine.

I really need to search first...here's solution to the Jawbone specific problem. http://tinyurl.com/2dhex7h

I notice that when on the Touchstone: when Pre is fully charged, it stops charging and runs down the battery.

It's awesome, loving it. Now bring on 2.0! :D

My battery seems to drain faster.

Call me crazy but it's like this:

GOOD/GREAT:
- Better battery life. (Maybe my imagination here but battery
life seems noticeably better.)
- After getting the TMC error, closing apps allows me to open
the app that first caused the TMC error. Prior to update
I'd have to do a luna restart to open the app that caused
the TMC error. (And YES I'm overclocking! Using latest
version of Uber Kernel. And yes I know other kernels
prevent the TMC error altogether.)

LESS GOOD/BAD:
- PDF viewer errors. (Dont know if this is from the update
or not but I never got them before unless it was an odd
version of a PDF file.)

Overall the update has been great! Love the new PDK games!

I've been having the PDF viewer complain that it can't open particular files for awhile now. Very frustrating and not helped by DataVis' apparent unwillingness to provide updates or any movement forward in the space.

Battery life much better. 2nd day effect was 0.7% per hour, stabilized at 2.7% (using battery monitor app). Still better than 1.4.1.1, but someone needs to figure out the day 2 effect of very low battery usage

I love it all the free games and stuff rule. Palm has reinstated my faith in them with this update.

my phone will freeze and I have to kill my phone to restart it it happened while I was reading this post so I had to kill it just to post this other then that I guess no problems..oh wait when I search something from the home screen it searchs undefined then what I searched and instead of spacing it puts %20%

and now it did a double post

starting to look like a triple post!

seemingly less card errors, had initial problem with WebosDoctor 1.4.5 havent noticed any significance in battery life, but still leaves me with a great phone!

no issues, could be better though

Still waiting here in verizon

I can't play asphalt and i just started getting too many cards notifications again... I haven't had them since real close to launch.

Best thing about 1.4.5 is that Google Maps now opens without an insane 30-40 second delay! I'm also enjoying the indie PDK apps without problems thanks to webos-internal's Emergency Fstab Fixer patch. Beyond that, it seems just like 1.4.1.1 to me, running UberKernel with a (normally) 250/720 screenstate governor profile and 64 MB compcache.

Waiting for Angry Birds!

Treating me good, we are in love. LOL
Pre has always run good, updates never issue, i like my Sprint & Palm Combo!
OS seems faster.

The update appears to provide longer battery life, faster podcast delivery. Searching the web appears faster. I've had my pre for since it first came out. This update is the best so far and I am looking forward to more updates to stream line this phone and make it comparable to other smartphones. I think the webos has so many potentials for the future that competitors will be jealous.

as soon as i updated my ringer stopped working. tried using webOS repair and it didn't work. txt alerts sound and a sound indicating a have a missed call sounds but not when someone is calling. camera app doesn't work properly either. real bummer...

Battery life is definitely better and performance a little snappier.

I have one VERY annoying bug this update introduced. In my contacts note fields I often hit return for line breaks. The line breaks show/look normal in the edit contact view...but in the contact details view there is an
(br / w/brackets on either end of it) stamped into my note instead of a line return entered! Have you all been annoyed by this as much as I have in my business? Candswesco@gmail.com
I sync w/Google profile & ham Sprint Pre w/latest update installed via wifi.

I sync w/Google profile & ham Sprint Pre w/latest update installed via wifi.

My battery life seems the same, but I've noticed a small speed improvement. It might be because it no longer has Compcache (update blew away my Uberkernel). I was satisfied with 1.4.1, 1.4.5 is cool too.

webOS, i love. the lack of good apps for the pixi, I HATE!!!!!!! there's like 15 new apps for 1.4.5 that i really really REALLY want, but i can't use them because "This application is not available for your model."

i'm sorry HPalm, but i'm due for an upgrade in october... i'm switching to android... i love the interface for webOS, like, you can't imagine how much i love it. but the lack of apps for the pixi just, quite frankly, pisses me off.

only change i noticed is PDF viewer no longer works.and thats it

I have the noted formatting bug and I don't sync with exchange. I sync with google, Facebook and linkedin. Only a few contacts have the html tag.

I did get back universal search.

So. I think it's a winner.

Love the update. Don't know if it was the update or the doctor I did before thhe update, but I have not had a TMC error. Plus I overclock. Can't tell a difference in battery life or anything else. Wish there there was a way to filter only PDK apps in the catalog. Can't wait for 2.0 & new phone!

Sprint Pre seems to be doing well. I put my patches and UberKernel back on so no way of telling if the TMC error would come back (I didn't give it the chance). I have the smaller Seidio extended battery and don't really notice any improvement. (So I finally broke down and ordered the BIG Seidio.) I am using my Pre for more and more gaming and podcast listening now and both of those are working quite well. Bring on Angry Birds!

Mine seems to be running faster accessing apps. I haven't been getting the too many card errors, we'll see on that. Unfortunately I do have the Exchange notes formatting problem.

For me I haven't noticed any difference at all. I still live my life according to the availability of power outlets. 1.45 didn't make anything worse though so I guess thats a good thing.

Battery life: very noticeably shorter (>35% shorter)
Reception: mixed. Better reception in strong/fair signal areas, worse reception (dropped calls/3G glitches) in weak signal areas.
Wi-fi: Seems improved. Less dropping to 5.5.mbps, somewhat faster connection in strong signal areas.
Other: keyboard locked up once, had to cold boot; still getting lots of "pauses" and TMC warnings, now even with 0 to 1 apps open; more frequent problems with battery not charging even though it is connected to USB or AC adapter, showing charging icon (seems that the USB indicator must be shown in the notification area for it to actually be charging); Bluetooth was working fine, now sometimes it has disconnected and more often has had problems hanging up the call from the BT headset.

Did anyone notice that with 1.4.5 if you download nay video from youtube you are not able to send it by email... that sucks!!!! like I said my Google maps work 3x faster, etc etc. I love this phone but dont fuck up the good things that we already have plz!!!!!

Formatting error in the Notes section of Contacts: I maintain this has nothing to do with Exchange or Outlook or Gmail, etc. It appear for me that anything in the Notes section shows the "br" tag even if you input the comment via the Pre. Is this happening on everybody's Pre?

DEEP QUESTION

The Library of Congress tells me I have the right to activate a Verizon Pre Plus on Sprint.

If I did this, would I be able to update to 1.4.5? Would I EVER be able to update my phone?
