Squeeze Control SqueezeBox Remote for webOS hits 2.0 12

$9.99 might seem like it's on the high-end of the app cost spectrum, but if you're bought into Logitech's SqueezeBox WiFi radios, then getting a quality remote for them on your smartphone seems to be worth at least that cost. Enter Squeeze Control by PreCentral pal Wayne of angryGoat software. It's just hit version 2.0, bringing a really-great new interface, landscape controls, and the ability to easily manage multiple players.

Check out the angryGoat forums for more info on the new release and some hints that there are webOS 2.0 features in the pipeline as well. Like we said: a must-buy for Squeezebox owners.

A $10 remote? Plus I need to buy a squeeze box or whatever it is?..... Erggg

A $10 remote with a dead battery you mean!

Why would you comment upon a app that you have no idea what it does? I have a squeeze box and it is a fantastic way to stream your music and listen to any net radios, the app is a great interface to the device that works better than the remote you get with the device.

I have already played with the new version and they have added some great new features.

here's one way to generate excitement...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quI2I8wLPdc&feature=player_embedded

Ipad: It's like a giant iPhone, but... It's like a giant iPhone...

lol that's awesome!

I already own a ReadyNAS NV+ 1TB system with SqueezeCenter built in. SqueezeCenter itself is free. I already had 3 SqueezePlayer hardware devices in different parts of my home.

What I didn't have was a nice easy way to control all 3 from anywhere in my home. Logging into a PC to go to SqueezeCenter's admin web page was inconvenient, and excruciatingly slow.

I don't how they did it, but this interface is lightning quick. This application is absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. I bought two of them (one for my Pre, one for the wife's Pre). Granted, they were $5 each at the time I bought them, not $10. But I would have still bought them even at today's price.

I just used the app to play holiday music on every floor of the house, syncing all three playback devices in seconds using this app.

I agree. Squeezebox is awesome. I was just commenting on the crappy battery in the remote! If I ever get a squeezebox I would buy this I would just have to have the old-style-plugged-in-remote cause my battery is always dead! I guess if you have to explain a joke its not funny...

Yep, pretty much not funny at all...

double post

When I first got the Pre I was thinking of cool apps that I could write. A remote control for my Roku / SqueezeCenter seemed like a nice idea. I looked a bit into the API and determined it'd be a lot of work.

Well, then this app came out - and they did a much, much, much better job on it than I'm sure I could have ever hoped for. It is by far one of my favorite apps for WebOS. I love being able to find a song while at the dinner table, discussing music and put it on my system right away. Blows the Roku "remote" out of the water!

This is such an awesome app -- I just wish it was around before I spent extra money on the Squeezebox Duet like a year ago.. It does everything the Squeezebox Controller does, and has a better interface, in my opinion... I keep the Pre on my Touchstone within easy reach at the computer and can use it to access all of my Squeezecenter libraries as well as mysqueezebox.com.

Definitely worth every penny -- especially if you do not already have a Squeezebox Controller in your system.. $10 for this app, versus $149+ for a Squeezebox Controller... You do the math. Totally worth every penny!

Seems like a great app but am wondering how it displays my music collection on home computer. Does it show Art, can I sort by Artist or Album.
