Stream ESPN Radio, Midwest Conference Discussion, LanSchool App and more - From the Forums 4
stock2255, a new user to the forums and of webOS 2.1 no a legacy device, shares his excitement at finding a way to stream ESPN Radio live on his device. The advantages of having flash on the system is evident in this post, though not being able to listen to Howard Stern has some users perplexed. Join their discussion and maybe find a solution for them, or get some ideas for other services that you can stream on your devices.
One of the tools that technologically-aware teachers are beginning to get into is an app called LanSchool, which allows the instructors to view and control the various connected devices as students use them for tests and class lessons. iowahawk19 has shared some news that the developers of LanSchool are looking to create a TouchPad app now (with an agreement with HP already set). Another step for setting webOS devices in the classroom, which would be a big win for the platform.
Disappointed that the Veer May 2nd launch party has been cancelled? Some users are discussing a Midwest meetup for the summer to celebrate the release of all the new devices, and they're looking for more people to join the discussion and make decisions on the details. It may just be that the Veer Launch Party was cancelled since it was only meant to be a private event in the first place, but this Meetup/Conference planned for the Midwest is definitely going to be Big and Public. Use your voice and help decide what will be happening there.
The interest that developers have in building apps for webOS is definitely growing, but it's still lagging a bit behind the competition. User kkahnmd has posted a link and graph to show what percentage of developers are interested in building for the TouchPad and future smartphone devices, respectively, and discussion about why these numbers are still so low, along with questions about how this can be fixed, take place in the thread that follows.
The TouchPad is getting closer to being released in the next few months, and with the increased talk about it happening on the interwebs, user aapold is hoping that people will wisely choose not to abbreviate TouchPad as "TP". We quite agree with him on that, but then what are some alternatives that you might suggest?
There's always a lot more going on in the forums than can be shared here in this column, so you should head on over and check the thousands of conversations that are happening each day. It's a great way to get into the community, and an even better way to get the latest webOS than many other channels. Registration is free and easy, so go have some fun.

Some great news and good discussions! There aren't many product families that can engender such long-standing support, even in the face of some very long wait times for new hardware. Go webOS!
But of all the forum traffic to call out, you highlight the "don't call it a TP" thread? Seriously, what are we, 12?
Having Flash is great for sports fans. I can stream baseball games over Flash without having to register for something MLB only offers on iOS, Android, and BB. Sorry MLB, but if you want my money, you'll have to work for it.
Damn you pre minus, damn you :(
Thanks for the props.
Can't wait to have the TouchPad in the classroom!
