TouchPad heads to UK on July 15, starts at £399 [Update: Shipping Now!] 18
Head’s up England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland: The HP TouchPad cometh. You’ve got just over two weeks ten days before the inagural webOS tablet lands, as it’s due in the British Isles on July 15. The tablet will be priced at £399 for the 16GB version, while 32GB will cost £479. Accessory-wise, the power adapter is priced at £29.00, the case at £39.00, the Bluetooth keyboard is £59.00, and the Touchstone charger costs £69.00.
Preorders are open now on HP.com, though the tablet will be available from Amazon, Carphone Warehouse, PC World, and Argos as well – there’s HP scale at work. Now all they have to do is flex that scale to pump out the next update to webOS 3.0 and bring some more app developers on board. Press release after the break.

"You’ve got just over two weeks" - I make it 10days.
Really hoping their will be some in store demo units. Not heard anything about special HP stands in the UK yet.
I hope Rep. Of Ireland too!!
I was talking to one sales person in my local Curry's, and according to him he was 100% sure Curry's is going to have TouchPads, he wasn't just sure if all local branches will have it. So it looks at least Dublin and other major cities should have demo units to play with.
cheers
The problem we've got in the UK is the 20% VAT rate. There is still a premium that HP has put on top though. Plus no $50 rebate for us (although to be fair, we did get WebOS 2.1 for Pre series). This all works out to be far too expensive for me at the moment, especially as I'll be getting the Pre 3 too. This all works out to £798 or a staggering $1287. This is without accessories. I will be buying one at some point, but not launch day. It could be worse though. We could be on the Euro. Sorry rest of Europe :(
Don't forget the US prices don't include sales tax which differs from state to state.
I certainly didn't get 2.1 on my Pre-. Well, not officially anyway.
Only Pre+ got the 2.x update. Pre- owners, of which there are more in the UK (by the time the plus came along sales were declining very rapidly), as well as Pixi plus owners are still waiting for that special something.
Yeah, sorry about that. I went swimming with my Pre- so I replaced it with a Pre+. Still, I'm not sure who got the better deal. I'm still not sure about WebOS 2.1. It seems to cause me more problems than it's worth, but that's a discussion for the forums.
I really want to get my hands on a demo unit! Anyone heard if the stores mentioned have any yet?
Also think HP need to 'make things better' for us UK webOS early adopters ;)
Looks like it's only those orders taken directly by HP that are being shipped immediately - my Amazon order is still showing a ship date of 16th-18th July.
Carphone Warehouse is showing the TP as out of stock - although I've emailed them to ask if it's actually out of stock or just saying that because it's still a pre-order item. If Carphone Warehouse can get me one faster than Amazon then I'll buy it from them!
Btw, HP is asking prospective buyers to 'Call for availability' so it seems like the first drop of TouchPads will sell out in the UK. (of course we don't know how many there were in the channel in the first place!)
If Amazon tell me they can't fulfill my order cause they're out of TouchPads then THERE WILL BE TROUBLE!!
@Casion - what are you talking about? The 32Gb TouchPad is £479 *inclusive* of 20% VAT. £479 is what you pay! Last time I looked (on HPs site) the Touchstone was £70, the case £39 and the keyboard £59. Which adds up to a **** of alot less than £798!
My price was including the Pre 3 @ £399. Sorry for the confusion.
Ah okay mate - makes sense now...
Update: Carphone Warehouse got back to me - the TP is showing as out of stock because they haven't got any stock in yet..
They also said they didn't actually know when I could expect to have it delivered if I placed an order - which is slightly worrying given how close we are to a UK release.
I think HP have been very conservative with the numbers they have brought to the UK - HP is saying 'call for availability' already on their site and all other retailers still aren't saying when they can dispatch. I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS!!
Hope we don't end up with alot of folks who have pre-ordered having to wait weeks - Apple style. I'd put money on people who ordered the 16Gb being in this boat though...
Need a lotto win to be able to afford this but awesome :)
Allow me to refer you to the Amazon.co.uk preorder
I pre-ordered mine via HP UK & I have had no notification. In fact the opposite my delivery date has been put back from 8 July to 11 July!
i also pre-ordered from HP UK (on 21/6) and have had no notification. my delivery date was pushed back to the 8th a few days ago, but it hasn't slipped to the 11th.
seems HP is expecting deliveries in staggered batches, and we're all getting different stories based on when we ordered. either that or it's a cockup and we'll all get it on the 15th no matter what :)
I live in the UK and ordered directly from HP on the 19th and I received mine today.
We received our Touchpad yesterday. The UK Catalogue of apps is even smaller, we cannot even get the Kindle App here in the UK.
