TouchPad lands at FCC, gets certification of the Wi-Fi variety 30

The HP Pre 3’s documentation went up at the FCC today, but as is typical for the FCC, we had to do some digging to determine that was in fact the phone we suspected it to be. As it turns out, another HP device passed through the FCC’s certification labs today, and this one is the HP TouchPad.
The filing for webOS tablet, classified as a “handheld computer” by the FCC, included documents from HP and Inventec, all but confirming the TouchPad will be built by the Taiwanese OEM. And we didn’t even have to decipher this one as being the TouchPad, as the name was listed multiple times in multiple documents.
While this does appear to be the Wi-Fi-only version of the TouchPad, it does seem that the FCC information will be printed onto a pull-out tab, ala the HP Slate 500. Our hope is that this tab is merely occupying the space that will be the SIM card slot on the GSM models. Why HP couldn’t just print it on the back like Apple does with their sacred iPad, we don’t know.

it's unfortunate that HP insists on coming up with these weird engineering solutions for something so simple (like the Veer's magnetic adapter). And worse is that they are plainly carrying it over from the failed HP slate.

Yay! Looking forward to seeing this device come to light...hold it with my own fingers...leave prints behind...You know, maybe the ease of leaving fingerprints is actually part of a sophisticated security system...making you more able to match fingerprints with the perpetrator who tries to make off with your new TouchPad!

I was under the impression that the FCC filing goes through just weeks before device release? Perhaps we'll see them out sooner than we thought?

Haven't looked forward to summer so much since I was a kid! Even if the App Catalogue never grows I wouldn't use a different OS for my daily driver right now. Here's hoping against all odds!
I'm hoping the reason they're putting the cert info in the tray is because it's difficult to print it on a soft-touch material.

@idontwant2know many of us don't have anything else to do. Back in the day we'd be feverishly chatting in the forums about the next update, refreshing the update app every 30 seconds... These days all we have left is to moan about how hard done by we are, how HP has left the Pre- in the cold and now... Put the sticker in the wrong place... It is a terrible world. /sarcasm
I really hope they have some kind of package deal when these things come out. I want them all! People really do need to chill out on the negativity. It's a good thing to have some webOS go through the fcc. If that's what people care about, they'll never be pleased.

i for one is happy about to see touch go fcc its progress. idk about u guys but i really feel like the time hp is taking with there products is goin to pay off in regards to performance: smoothness, durablity, responsiveness, and speed.
I'm going to take the pull-out as a good sign. One reason to have it there would be because the back is removable, and therefore can't be considered part of the device. ;)
