Touchstone Battery Cover: Sold Separately? SRSLY? 26
Look, Palm, baby, honey: you know we love you. We love you with all our hearts. But sometimes you seem to do things that just don't make sense. We know, you have a lot on your plate, so we understand if things like this get missed. So don't take this the wrong way, but what the heck are you thinking putting this on your page on the Touchstone charger page?
Requires Palm Pre Touchstone back cover, sold separately. Wall charger provided with Pre is also required for use.
Wireless charging via magnetic induction, automatic speakerphone and call answering, all of Touchstone's features are great. And like we said above, baby, we sympathize because it's a little complicated. On our first Touchstone purchase, for our home, we'll want to buy a battery cover but maybe not a charger, since we have that one already. On our second, for the office, we won't need that battery cover but we will need a charger. So yeah, you want to keep costs down and such and since there are different purchase scenarios, it's not clear what should and shouldn't come with a Touchstone--we get it, we do. Calm down, it's OK, we get it, we understand.
But maybe you could put together a bundle or two with the Touchstone?
Thanks to Jon for the tip!

I hate to say this, but this has been known since like January, so old news. :P
And, no price. GET WITH IT PALM!!!
We've known it will need a separate back cover, but there had been speculation/hope that it would be packaged with the Touchstone. This is the first thing we've seen that confirms the two will be priced and sold as separate items, which is kinda lame.
Bear in mind that this information isn't coming from some unnamed source; its straight off Palm's own information page regarding the touchstone, which leads us to believe that it IS true...at least for now. Hopefully things will change before release time.
If this thing isn't packaged so that a person can bring one home, crack it open, assemble all the included parts and start charging, Palm will have failed.
They should have the capacity to sell EXTRA/replacement cables, battery doors, etc. - but everything required to use this thing needs to be in the package, that's simply common sense (which Palm has hopefully acquired after all these years without much of it demonstrated).
