TVCatchup beta looking to ensure UK TV fans never miss a beat 20

Dr. Who

If you live in the United Kingdom and consider yourself to be a fan of British television, then we may very well have the ticket you’ve been looking for. TVCatchup is looking for Palm webOS beta testers for their live streaming service. Currently they have both an iPhone app by the same name that allows you to watch the UK’s top 15 channels live, and they’re looking to expand that service to modern smartphones including the webOS platform. Testing is expected to take only about 5-10 minutes, though you’ll be free to watch as much live streaming TV as you like. Wi-Fi and 3G will be required of all testers, as will UK residency. Time to put that brand new O2 Pre Plus to use, eh?

Thanks to Martin for the tip!

too late,
already 39 pages and enough testers, thread is closed

It seems as though there is enough demand so hopefully they will get a full version out soon, although I still would like to be able to watch proper catch up TV on the pre as this shows live TV only. What we need is an official (or unofficial) BBCi Player app!

Well as soon as Flash for the Pre comes out, there'll be no need for a iPlayer app :)

British TV being the best this will be very welcome. Looking at the website they also give you a TV guide which will be very good.

With a Tube app and this it is good to see the UK user being gifted with some good apps and the last few apps out are very good too, at last the OS is being given what it deserves.

Now a little word to Palm and HP, dump o2 as a single seller and all will be good.

Looking forward to meeting our US cousins in South Africa in a few weeks, i am sure it will be a great game and the US did very well in the last World Cup. Will i get to watch it on my Pre............?!

Virgin Media TV on Demand , now that would be very good!

A bit culturally insensitive to use a Dr. Who image from 1 Doctor and 3 companions ago though. Sort of like using a picture of Ruben Studdard to illustrate American Idol.

No, I think it's a good choice. It's from the era where Billie Piper played. Seeing her appear on Precentral draws a huge smile on my face :)

Yes I dont mind seeing Billie on anything especially my Pre!. but this is good news seeing a App like this being developed this will boost its appeal and drain the battery lol

As nice as Billie Piper is, I'd take current companion Karen Gillan over her any day. :D

Ok, now I am jealous I live in the USA and can not participate! I hope this app works out.

Er, I don't think O2's TOS allow streaming of any kind:

You may not use your SIM Card:
in, or connected to, any other device including modems;
to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable Voice over Internet (Voip), P2P or file sharing; or
in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers.

=(

Is that why the Pre and the iphone come with youtube apps?
I could be listening to music all day on youtube =)

I love British TV. I hope that this app will also be available to US users.

I'm sort of disappointed at the outdated Doctor Who image purely because Karen Gillan is so drool worthy.

I know the feeling, now Rory's gone, shes mine for the taking ;)

As my username suggests, I am a big fan of the show and the image caught my eye as soon as I jump on PreCentral. Wish those of us in the US could get this app, though. Chris Eccleston and David Tennant were great to watch and I loved all of the companions so far (although I think Catherine Tate was the most fun).

Well the new series with Matt smith and Karen Gillan is very good. I am sure you will love the new series when you get it.

just wanne have flash pls....with cherry on top

Damn UK residency requirement!

Every since TVCatchup put my VPN provider on the banned list, I've been very sour.
