Description

Fast, accurate typing is a key factor in being able to use your smartphone effectively. Two Thumbs Up is the first and only typing tutor made specifically to teach thumb typing by touch on smartphones. Using the martial arts ranking system of colored belts, you start as a white belt and progress to a black belt as typing proficiency increases. Two Thumbs Up is specifically designed to teach the entire webOS keyboard (QWERTY only for now) including the special keys and characters. Drills systematically introduce two or three characters at a time. They then add previously learned characters, and finally words and sentences using learned characters. Drills also display a virtual keyboard to give you feedback without having to look at the physical keyboard. If the wrong key is pressed, it is shown in red and the correct key shown in green, so you can easily move to the correct key. Tests use the typing mode that you would normally use for email, memos, and other texting, and are used both for practice and to earn higher colored belts. Most drills and tests focus primarily on accuracy while gradually increasing speed. Black belt ranks work on increasing speed while maintaining accuracy. All drills and tests last only one minute so you can easily practice almost anywhere. If desired, you can upload your drill and test statistics to a website to track your progress or see how you rank against others.

This app works well up until you achieve your green belt. After that there are typos in the words you are typing that cause problems in both the practice sessions and the "test." I contacted the developer and they did an update but that didn't seem to fix it.

This app is a good idea, and would be worth the $.99 if they fixed the typos.
