Uncovered Palm Video Wants Us To Have Fun 12

Not really surprising, but it certainly seems as though Palm's putting all it can into the Pre.  If you missed it in Dieter's Setup and Gestures video, the Pre shows this short video after the initial setup and activation is complete.  It's beautifully-designed and a credit to the level of quality Palm is putting into the WebOS and Pre.

Originally I had hopes the video had been obtained from the hidden ROM files of the Pre.  That would indicated the possibility of hacking up root access.  And given the uploader, Steve Troughton-Smith, is a known iPhone developer, it wasn't such a crazy idea.  Turns out the truth was much less epic, as according to Dieter, the video file is plainly available when connected in USB drive mode. Bit of a disappointment, but a very nice video nonetheless.

This video is an instructional video that comes on the Pre. It is also viewable from the handset.

I went to local BB stores and I got to play with their demo Pre's for about 30 minutes at each store. It has excellent help features and demos that help someone understand the phone better. I LOVED IT! EVERYTHING I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE! Go to BB right now and ask for their demo; they all have to have them by NOW!!!

You must be in a decent-sized urban area, the BB's in Raleigh, NC didn't have the demos up today, but will tomorrow at 8 am! Going back to my tent now.... jk.

I agree with everyone else - this video is better than the commercial - it grabs the spirit of the phone plus shows it in action..... not that FLOW is bad, this is just better.

I don't have access to a Pre yet (and won't until Sunday unless they're all sold out in which case I have to wait months for the Irish GSM version :-(), but I grabbed the video from the root filesystem of the Pre: it's at /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.firstuse/videos
