Veer and Pre 3 start showing up in app logs 19
At the Think Beyond event, HP’s Applications and Services Senior Vice President Steven McArthur went out of his way to acknowledge developer Connor LaCombe, the guy behind Voogle, the lone Google Voice app for webOS. That’s for good reason, as Google Voice is slowly working its way into the mainstream. Now that the HP Veer and Pre 3 are public knowledge, Palm’s testing the two devices (and possibly versions 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of webOS) and not masking them from showing up in app logs like Metrix. (it is possible that somebody's punking us, though if we had to guess we'd say fakers would be more audacious and put in something like the TouchPad)
LaCombe’s Voogle Metrix logs have picked up both the Veer and Pre 3 in testing, with the Pre 3 lumped in as merely “Pre” but standing out due to its 480x800 size screen (whereas the Veer stands out by name and blends with the Pixi in screen size). Neither device is much closer to launch - late spring and summer have never seemed so far away - but it’s still nice to see HP testing their devices with important apps to ensure full compatibility.

PreCentral. Please listen. Your RSS feed keeps showing old articles as new ones. I love hearing about webOS news but this is getting ridiculous. Every hour I get a "new" article but they're not really new. Please fix this. I will check back in a week. If its not fixed then I guess I'll get my webOS news from somewhere else.
veer smh
what happened to the retina display resoltuion that was shown back in sept/oct?
why would HP not choose that, and choose a res thats slowly going to go away with 960*540 or 960*640
Retina display is nice but 800x480 is nice too.
800x 480 is great, retina display is awesome.
960x640 really would have been nice - exactly double the existing resolution, so legacy apps could just be quad-pixeled.
however I suspect 960x640 is a lot more expensive than 800x480. Apple probably has the market cornered on 3.5" 960x640 displays.
Not only that, but why should Palm keep copying Apple? (I'm not actually asking the question, that's probably what Palm's product designers used for their basis)
One possibility would be to allow apps to easily be ported.
This is gonna be just like another Pre..6 months of BS hype.
That's going to suck if it happens. Hopefully Palm does something for longtime webOS users to make the wait feel shorter....
so I hope this means sprint will get the pre 3
you don't kill off the Palm brand! I think that was a bad move. Hp and Palm could have both had devices. There could have been differentiation between the brands.
Nice to know they're in testing but I'd rather see them showing up in stores about now instead of app logs
In recording phone stats that hit the catalog, is it reecorded what netblock(s) they came from?
M.
If HP needs a tester for new hardware, I can find time to test all 3!
Selfless I know, I do what I can :-)
what going on with the app catalogue? In the uk the number apps has gone from over 5000 to 4700! Why has it gone down by 300?
I hadn't seen this app, but Google Voice works well in their web mode on the pre plus.
Um, what about gDial???
