Veer appears for $50 contract-free on Amazon; deal not likely long for this world

So you’re wanting an HP Veer, but you don’t want to sign a contract to get it at a good price, nor do you want to pay a few hundred dollars for the off-contract phone. How about getting it at a steal of a price while not signing away the next two years of your life? Yeah, we thought you’d like that. In a deal that’s sure to be wiped away as soon as somebody realizes the mistake, you can right now purchase a brand-new white AT&T HP Veer 4G for $49.99 off of Amazon. And that’s without any contract to speak of. The deal represents a whopping $400 off the retail price of the contract-free miniature smartphone.

Like the similarly-priced $50 Veer that appeared on Amazon just two weeks ago, we expect this apparent deal is likely a mistake that will be rectified as soon as someone realizes the error. And it’s likely that any orders placed for this miracle $50 contract-free Veer will be cancelled, just as they were before, but by golly we couldn’t resist placing an order ourselves. Feeling like playing the “will Amazon cancel it?” lottery? Link’s below.

Update: That didn't take long, Amazon's now reporting the Veer as "temporarily out of stock." While we still suspect this was an error (we'd love to be pleasantly surprised), the comments on this post indicate that the supply did dwindle in front of our very eyes.

Update 2: Amazon has realized their mistake, and the $49.99 white Veer now directs customers to the AmazonWireless page with correct pricing ($49.99 on-contract, $349.99 off). Whether or not Amazon will honor the pricing from last night remains to be seen.
