Verizon Palm Pixi Plus now free after contract 17

by Dieter Bohn Mon, 10 May 2010 11:52 am EDT

After Verizon dropped the price of the Palm Pre Plus to $29.99, a similarly drastic price cut for its little friend, the Pixi Plus, was inevitable.  On verizonwireless.com, the Pixi Plus is now completely free with a 2 year contract and no mail-in rebates either. 3G Mobile Hotspot is also still gratis, but it looks like Buy-one-Get-one is no more.

So what we're saying here is that for zero cash up front and around $70 per month, you can have a Verizon 3G mobile hotspot that also happens to be a pretty darn good phone (one that we expect will get 3D gaming sometime later this year).

Sprint has the Pixi (sans-WiFi) for free online, but their non-plus Pre is still $149.99 after rebate. AT&T's launch prices of $149.99 for the Pre and $49.99 for the Pixi are starting to look a little daunting, too, dontchathink?

Thanks to George for the tip!

Sprint should make pre zero dollars and get rid of stock, for pre plus coming in June.

Come on sprint, drop your prices!

Plus is coming to Sprint in June?

"but it looks like Buy-one-Get-one is no more"
you mean if you buy one for free, you don't get the second automatically for free, but you can "buy" a 2nd one for free too?

Sprint needs to drop price of Pre and also needs to drop non-plus pixi, they should have included wifi from the start.

Lets not forget, if you run on over to your nearest Radio Shack, or THE SHACK, you may also find a Touchstone Kit for the Palm Pre that your also getting while your getting that Pixi!!Get it? Good.

I agree, come on Sprint -- where's the love?

Or, is it that their inventories are so vastly depleted that they do not want to run out before the "next big thing"?

Alright kkhanmd, this is how rumors get started! Did you find some article or something that the plus is coming to Sprint in June? If so, I will wait to buy a Pre! *fingers crossed*

On the more expensive non-Verizon phones, GPS works great. Verizon needs to fix their "a-GPS" problem or they may not even be able to give the phones away.

Verizon wants you to pay for their GPS app. They don't see crippling aGPS for other apps to be a "problem".

Wow, didn't realize the Sprint Pre was still that much.

I walked by the Verizon store yesterday and saw the the Pre and Pixi were both $30. What would make anyone get a Pixi if the Pre was the same price, I asked myself. Heroine?

Heroin, a semi-synthetic opioid drug synthesized from morphine.

Heroine, a woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities.

Maybe if she was hot, which I guess would be normal for marketing purposes.

I bought a Pixi last week for the form factor, size, and keyboard. It's a seriously underrated phone.

bitrate, I couldn't agree more! I think the Pixi is an awesome entry in the mobile market. Palm really dropped the ball with regards to marketing. I didn't care for the form factor of the Pre, so I went with the Pixi to try out WebOS, as I've never used a Palm device before. Anyone who claims the Pixi to be a weak device clearly hasn't spent time with one.

I see the add does not show GPS, only VNavigation. Wonder if Verizon is going to step up and enable the aGPS soon.

There is a homebrew fix for aGPS.

I need a Heroine to get me my Sprint rebate. It has been SEVEN months! I contacted them again today. When I bought the Pre, as an enticement the salesman offered to fill out and mail in the rebate. It never got there.

My $249.99 Pre hardware is excellent though. Still on no. 1 At least I have that.

I just tried to get Verizon Wireless to honor their 30 day price match on the Palm Pre as I had paid $49.99 a couple of weeks ago and then three of us saw it over the weekend for $29.99 on VZW website(no longer there). It is also listed on Palm's site with Verizon Wireless agreement for $29.99 currently. Despite all of this they refused to honor their 30 day price match!!! So much for integrity!!
