Verizon Palm Pre Plus down to $29.99 36

by Dieter Bohn Sun, 02 May 2010 11:26 am EDT

Thought that a Palm Pre Plus for $49.99 with free Mobile Hotspot (and a Buy-one-get-one option) was a killer deal? How about $29.99? That's what Philly8081 in our forums noticed on Verizon's site and we called a couple brick-and-mortars to confirm: the Palm Pre Plus is now just $29.99 after a two year contract, no mail-in rebate in sight. Unfortunately, the Palm Pixi Plus didn't see a similar price drop, so it too is (still) priced at $29.99 after contract.

We don't know if there are still too many webOS devices in the channel and Verizon and Palm need to keep moving them at the expense of profit margin or if this is simply a reaction to the launch of the Droid Incredible last week. We do know that a $30 Pre with free Mobile Hotspot is a great deal.

Thanks for the tip, Palmwebos!

Just to note: buy one, get one is no longer in effect with the Pre, but it is with the Pixi.

wow. That is an amazing deal. Especially for those of us who didn't want to open two lines with them. But for that price I might just dump sprint.

Yes it is a bargain deal on the device...yet most of us will never switch and face those extra data charges. Sprint has great 3G service and no bogus EXTRA CHARGES for data. Also, being a VIP customers has it's perks =]

Go Palm.
Go webOS.
Go Sprint.

"...if you build it, they will come."

Sadly, they didn't.

Bought my Pre three weeks ago from Big Red and am still in the 30 day trial period. I wonder if I can get $20 back.

No harm in trying

They should. They did it for me when the price dropped to $49.99 during my 30 day trial period.

Hi Malber,

I called Verizon yesterday and convinced them to refund me the $20, since I'm in the 30 day trial period too. The first woman I talked to said I could only get the refund if the store I bought it from lowered the price. According to this woman, if I bought it online, I could get the difference back. The store I bought it from hadn't lowered the price yet. So, I called Verizon back later in the day and spoke with someone else. The second person I talked to simply credited my account $20. Now my bill will be less next month. So, don't give up if the first person tells you no.

I just got a $20 credit from the corporate verizon store I bought mine from less than 30 days ago... Plus a $30 data plan credit. (in lieu of waiving the activation charge.

Total cost w/ one-year contract. $70! :) Happy camper here.

My wife's contract is not up yet, how much will it cost if I renew her contract?
Bought it for my wife for 29, by just renewing her contract.

Next Generation of Mobile devices will be Peer-To-Peer Wireless links from your Smartphones to a large display screen (6 - 7 inches) console to view streaming contents such as movies, Internet and GPS maps. Take the Console with you when you need it or leave it home or office when not needed. Play Multiplayer Games on the Console using smartphone phones as controllers.
See Patent Diagram Figures 3, 4, 5, and 6 Here http://wirelesssynergy.org/products.htm

1. You sound like a spambot
2. I totally do not want a phone with a 6-7 inch screen in my pocket. If anything it won't fit. By your means everybody will be using an Eee PC as a phone.

The large 6 -7 inch console is a device that interface with the smartphones to provide a larger screen. The console can also be a larger phone. Two versions of the console.

why would i need that? the EVO has HDMI out. why would i care about a 6 in screen when i got a 52 inch plasma? What your talking about seems like something only you want.

you can not take a 52 inch TV to the park or burger king or travel with it. The portable console allows you to have a larger screen device on the go.

I still kick myself for paying $500 for my pre, since I wasn't eligible for an upgrade...still love the phone though lol

My wife and I each got a Palm Pre plus for free by renewing our Verizon "free every 2 years" program. We love the phone.

Verizon is just happy that they just got another $3500. Even so, the phone IS great. Make sure to overclock to 800Mhz!

The Palm Pre Plus is only a $0.01 on Amazon.com for Verizon. That's a much better deal....plus FREE 2-day shipping. Here's the link

Can someone please explain why its taking sprint so damn long to drop their prices?? :(

I think there going to drop when the HTC Evo 4G comes out just like the Palm Pre Plus dropped when the HTC Droid Incredible came out

Sprints value is in the service charges and value added services that VZ makes you pay for. A $200 Sprint Pre is still a better value than a free Pre Plus with a $20 rebate. Do the math.

Problem w Amazon is, if you are not eligible for a 2 year contract price then its 99 dollars, while at verizon if you are in the middle of your contract they will just renew it for 2 years and give you a new phone for 30 dollars. They really want to get rid off it, they even waived off early handset renew fees for me.

I think Palm will announce a new device before or around the time apple will announce their new phone so they are reducing their price and trying to clear out inventory....

I don't know about you guys, but when i see these phones coming out with flash built in it already i get mad as shit cause i knew that we was going to have it first.

should be free..its a crime to pay for this P.O.S

I wonder what you thought when iPhones were 600 dollars a piece a couple years back . . .

Silent Cobras should remain silent

At the end of the article, it says free mobile hot spot. Is that a free subscription now?

It's part of the plan you purchase. Not entirely free; 5gb limit per month; $0.05 per mb thereafter.

Just a heads up, if you order online, and at the final order confirmation, attempt to navigate away or cancel your order, the webpage will offer you an additional $30 off of the phone price itself, bringing the total cost down to nil for the Pre Plus. Not sure how long they'll be offering that deal, so jump on it while it lasts.

I bought one yesterday because I was afraid they would discontinue the free mobile HotSpot at the end of the month.

I still saved $10 with the BOGO deal, though, so not all is lost.

I am starting to get a bit concerned with all this price dropping, even if I did benefit from it! ;). Is it seriously THAT hard to move an advanced device like this?

The VZ mindshare is so heavy into droid that I never see anybody looking at Palm. I think the VZ folk that wanted Pre either jumped ship, or got it early on after the VZ launch. Today, was the first time I ever saw VZ placing the Pre at the entrance of the store. Nice looking display, finally, but still nobody paying any interest. And we're back to seeing more VZ/BB TV ads and few if no Pre TV spots. VZ just plain wants out, but they poisoned the waters so badly, they cant even unload their reduced minimal order.

I can't wait for AT&T to launch the Pre for $150.00 or some other ridiculous amount considering the competition... :(

.

I'm within my 30 day worry free guarantee. Just called in and got the $20 credited to my account and it adjusted my current bill. Took less than 5 minutes. This phone for 30 bucks is a steal.

Verizon may be a bit more expensive but I feel it's absolutely worth it considering the excellent coverage I get. Plus, the 15% corporate discount I get on the main line for my voice and data plan makes it a little easier to swallow.
