To the author: Engadget is reporting that Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are coming to France on 27 of April.

What we NEED is for Palm to let the mic and camera be accessed via normal APIs. Those two limitations are huge.

A surprising number of forum readers are still on their first Pre? Really? Hyperbole much?

Everyone I know who has a Pre is still on their first one and that includes everyone who got it on day 1.

Continuing on with that process...

I *really* wish that people would check out the "Review Bomb for Palm" thread. And I *really* wish it had been included in this write up on the front page, so that more people would consider writing reviews. Actually, I wish the Review Bomb thread had its own post on the front page... to get absolute maximum effectiveness in one swoop.

More review ratings from happy customers who're still on their first Pre, like me, are definitely needed for Palm to have higher sales rates!

thanks for posting that. I just submitted my review.

I agree with southbaypalm. My wife, dad, stepmom, and I all got our pres on launch day, and none of us has had a single hardware problem. Pre FTW.

At least those users complaining about the App Catalog get to see reasonable numbers of apps. Most users with a Pre in a "unsupported" country still get dismal numbers of free apps..

Wife, Mom and brother are still on their launch day Pre. I am on my 4th (only because I rejected 2 replacements that came by mail; third replacement was fine).

So the first one lasted a few months then had the battery door crack issue. The initial two replacements they sent were not great so I rejected them. The last one has been going strong for the past few months.

HTC buying out Palm makes sense if you think about it. This would allow HTC to own Palm's patent portfolio. Squashing Apple's patent suit and give HTC the ability to counter sue Apple infringing on Palms patents!

I've had to replace my Pre twice, but both times were under circumstances that I would have had to replace any other smartphone out there.

I think I'm on my 4th pre... but to be fair, I sent the last one in for random restarts... which, I found out all of them do, because of the patch or something, i dunno

I bought my Pre on launch day, and I still have it. It has never given me problems. I love my Pre!

I suspect the *real* number of users on their nth pre is much lower than the number of forum members on their nth pre. Forum members are either technology enthusiasts, who tend to be more fussy than the general population, or people drawn to the forums because their pre malfunctioned in some way.
But problems do exist and that minority of customers with hardware issues tends to be fairly vocal about it. The meme "slider mechanism sucks" propagates much faster than "slider mechanism works OK".

Still on my launched day pre. Other than scratches on my screen that I did first week of having it in my pocket with my zippo, dammit. It's still goin strong, no probs of any kind! I fricking love this smart device. By far better than ALL the others out there!

I got mine from BestBuy the day after Thanksgiving. I have had no issues with the hardware other than a couple of auto restarts when I had 3 or 4 cards ope and was opening something else and closed the slider while plugging in the charger. I really don't blame the hardware.

with all this patent lawsuit talk, how come palm won't just sue apple? Why would webos have to merge with htc in order to sue apple for patent infrigements?

Apple's legal team is larger than Palm's, Palm doesn't have nearly as much cash as Apple to keep a suit going, neither of them want to take the risk of having their patents invalidated under court scrutiny, and frankly it would be MAD.

The viral marketing event was yesterday, April 8th, and you post about it April 9th? That's not very helpful. PreCentral.net admins: Please post this kind of stuff *before* it happens to ensure maximum participation.

Maybe do a 'reminder' article on April 14th to remind everyone to participate in the April 15th event??

Btw, I got my Pre about a month after it launched on Sprint. I've had no hardware issues.

I'm on my 4th Pre. All but one of them had issues caused but me dropping them repeatedly, albeit unintentionally, on the pavement.

An all-over bodygrove like I had for my Treo would have saved 3 devices.

The 4th was the charging port screen crack issue.

I'm still on my first pre from 10/1/2009, but I'm about to exchange it because the usb crack started a couple weeks ago and keeps getting worse. The kicker...I have 3 touchstones so I don't even use the usb port. I'm really hoping palm pulls out a miracle and comes out with an EVO-like device this summer b/c I'm not sure how long the pre will keep selling. I really like my pre (primarily due to webos), but other platforms are really narrowing the gap created by webos' only (main) benefit: multitasking.

I am on my second pre, but only because I dropped my launch day pre onto my tile floor.

On my first Pre and still loving it and sticking with it. My daughter is on her third one but I suspect she is very hard on her phones. She hasn
