webOS 1.3.1

Right on schedule, webOS 1.3.1 is now available to Palm Pre users on O2 in Europe, achieving parity with webOS devices on the Sprint and Bell networks.  Say hello to the world of text forwarding and Yahoo Synergy integration and everything else that's new in 1.3.1!

Thanks to Dimpz and Scott for the tip!

Strange, I now seem to have a black background and trying to change it seems to do nothing.

Facebook app....no where near the quality of the iphone version. Time will improve this though I hope.

Phone seems generally snappier though.

Background fixed with a second reset.

webOS 1.3.1 is now available in the US too....my phone just updated a few hours ago. Did anyone else get the update?

It's been available here since before the Pixi launched.

lol you my friend, are way behind.

i will be doing a full review of the gsm version on my site shortly (http://p-quinn.com) and also can i add that the gsm update is 134 mb instead of the 124 the cdma version was,
Regards
Patrick

am on O2 tariff in UK and just updating my GSM Palm Pre to 1.3.1 (indeed is 134 Mb size, which was only couple of minutes on wifi, another couple more'Validating', and 10 minutes to install).

so glad my MotionApps Classic can now finally stop asking me upon opening it to download latest update (even when not available) and can allow HotSync.

Do you think its wise to go back to the European WebOS since it is on the same version now, because i was using the Bell Version, everything works fine with it, just the AppCatalog seems to have problems (showing me only around 60 Apps), or will the US get the next version way earlier again like with WebOS 1.2.1?

webOS 1.3.1 is available in France too : http://www.palmpre-france.com/Le-webOS-1-3-1-est-disponible-en-Europe_a1... with a german Palm Pre

It seems paid apps are still not here. I thought I could now update to the paid version of SplashID, but I get an error message in update and I can't find it in the app store.
For the rest, thank you Palm! Started putting all the patches on I've been wanting for a long time.

No paid applications in 1.3.1 for Europe is a problem for me, and I am sure, that it is a problem for almost all european users + all developers, who are loosing money. Palm, please give us in Europe a chance to buy applications soon.
BTW, SplashID is the most wanted application for me too.

And just 60 apps left for us Europeans. What a mess.

Finally !!! :D Now I can get my data connection to work !:D

I upgraded my German Pre to 1.3.1. No data whatsoever :((
My empty Exchange calendar is now doing fine :)

I'll try to hack APN db later tonight, but I see some people reporting that "old" hack doesn't work any more.
See more details in GSM forum.

Update working properly on GSM Pre (O2 Germany).
finally my PDF-Viewer is back (after i killed it with preware & landscape-patch @1.1.3).

no paid apps *thumbs down*

everything feels quite a bit faster, but not groundbreaking.

it is smoking my battery! 3 and a half hours hours and ist gone. The 1.3 update is no real improv to me!

I'm in Belgium with a (legally unlocked) German Pre. App Store says "unavailable at this time". Others too ? :-(

Same for me with a O2 German Pre (sold unlocked) connected to Vodafone Italy. App catalog unavailable :(
I opened a thread on precentral's forum and found we're not alone...

whoa, quite the perfomance-jump! Nice!

Cant validate my update :( Download works fine but it fails to validate every time !!

Also Downloading in Spain. Telefonica Movistar.

I have just updated my Palm to use the European WebOS 1.3.1 version but unfortunately I don't have the option to add Yahoo Messenger as an IM account. I only have Google Talk and AIM as options. It is supposed to be part of the 1.3.1 update but I find it strange that I don't have this option.

Any explanation for this?

Is there a "US-only" flag which can be enabled by app authors? With the old firmware version I had a LOT more apps in the app catalog and many of them had a text notice saying that the app is only available in US. Now all these apps seem to be gone and only a few apps are available here in Germany.

If there is such a "flag" then maybe it is misused. Maybe some app authors are setting this flag because their apps are only available in english? That would be a shame. The user should decide if he wants to install an english app. This is not the responsibility of the author.

Yes, there is but i don't know if it's related to fw version. Recently (but i had the old webos 1.1.3) Mileage Monitor disappeared from my App Catalog and the author confirmed me that there is such a flag that he set in last release. Anyway he kindly agreed to remove this flag and few days later Mileage Monitor was back in (European) App Catalog.

Oh man! Look at the speed! Especially the browser and contacts scrolling speed made a big step ahead. Also the photo app load times and the apps launch time is much better on 1.3.1. Great work, Palm!

Just imagine how fast the GUI is gonna be once it gets the GPU acceleration...

Downloaded over 3G, took about 15 mins. Now installing. Still can't use wifi at work due to lack of proxy support.

My Pre is now super fast on 1.3.1. The LinkedIn sync is super slick, plus it pulls in photos from there.

Has anyone else noticed that the GPS on/off option has disappeared (I'm on O2 in the UK)? Or is this now wrapped up in the 'geotagging' of photos?

One further question, does anyone know whether correct sync with Google sports calendars is in the works for future OS updates?

Finished updating then got memory critical error with only email and 2 webpages open.

Yea, pretty much any webpage with JavaScript more complex than alert("You Lovez my internetz and website!"); Freaks the hell out of WebOS 1.3.1 There are massive memory leaks/overuse and a few JSON parsing errors to boot!

I have to say... WebOS 1.3.1 is the first time I wish Palm would let me downgrade.

I just read the Movistar Release notes on http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/pre/p100eww/movistar/solutions/artic...

And it says:
Se ha resuelto un problema que imped

Anyone have a working link for webosdoctor 1.1.3 as I wish to downgrade, or should i say upgrade lol.

No yahoo messenger option for me either (UK). Also there are only 67 apps showing in the store. Things I had downloaded before the update are gone for some reason.

Option to turn on/off GPS is gone from location services too. I hope it only comes on when needed by an app and is not on all the time.

Seems ludicrous to restrict apps to the US. Location based things would be pointless anyway.

The GPS on/off option has been moved to the preferences of the location services app, see also this thread in the forum:

http://forums.precentral.net/gsm-pre/216554-after-131-update-where-toogl...

Yes, UK Pre for me too with not many apps in the store and no Yahoo which I was under the impression was quite a major part of this update?

Yep, no paid apps here on o2 and now only 67 apps in the Catalogue....Good work Palm

Similar experiences for us all then - a 134MB download, fairly painless install and only a handful of apps in the store. I started my upgrade at about 03:30 this morning over WiFi.
I was really hoping to get a working desktop Sync through Classic... but Classic has "gone" from the apps store - not even a trial version any more :-(
The GPS ON/OFF seems to have moved up into the menu of the Location Services application.

Well for some reason this update does not seem to have appeared on all uk palm pre devices. No notifications and the updates button keeps coming back with the same message of unable to connect. Try again later, this is even when on a strong wifi network. Should it really be necessary to use WebOS doctor to solve the upgrade???

If we are still getting screwed with regard to the app catalogue then I will be sticking with Sprint firmware.

Until half an hour ago, I had had the dreaded "unable to connect. Try again later" message upon trying to update for the last week or so. This situation didn't change with the release of OS 1.3.1. Everything else seemed to work fine. Resetting the device made no difference, but I finally decided to do a partial reset and after about a minute's wait it recognised an update was available first time. My phone is presently installing the new update.

Clearly there is an issue that I hope does not persist into 1.3.1. Good luck with getting your update.
