webOS 1.4.5 for Verizon Pre Plus phones arrives later today 88
We don't think we can give Mr. Ski Mask full credit for this one, but Verizon has just made it official that they'll be rolling out webOS 1.4.5 for the Palm Pre Plus later today, confirming earlier speculation that it was imminent. In addition to bringing support for 'indie' PDK games, 1.4.5 on Verizon is also expected to improve Mobile Hotspot for Windows Vista 64-bit users and perhaps improve battery life just a bit.
After today, 1.4.5 will be rolled out to pretty much everybody except AT&T, whose users can only be described as twisting in the Angry Birds-less wind. So while pestering @VZWSupport today at 3pm EST with the hashtag #releasemy145 isn't necessary anymore, @ATTCustomerCare could still stand to hear the message.

Really? This isn't the first time an exceptionally vague roll out promise has appeared in a VZWSupport tweet. And who's to say this reply isn't intended to do exactly what you're suggesting?
I, for one, will tweet at 3 PM eastern time if my Pre Plus still hasn't received notification of an update to 1.4.5, and I recommend we all stick to our guns on this. I smell a red herring here.

I'll believe it when I see it. We really need to put the manufacturers in charge of the OS updates. Apple seems to do it that way, no reason the others can't.

does auto backup done on daily basis by pre+ backup files such as jpg and mp3 found in the media/internal directory? i'm asking cause i'm afraid i might have to doctor after OS update tonight.

Pretty sure it does. But if you want to be safe, hook it up to your computer and drag everything into a folder on your desktop. After the update drag everything back if its not there.

No, the Palm auto-backup doesn't backup the /internal directory. Neither does the Doctor affect those files, but it is good practice to backup your pics and music yourself.

Hope this is really true, after the last update go-around, I find myself having a hard time believing what I read on twitter. Have un-installed the GPS patch and GPS-Fix application in anticipation of THAT possibly being part of the reason for the Verizon delay in dispersing this OTA.
Overall a very frustrating experience with Verizon's lack of responsiveness to these issues - honesty and plain dealing seem to no longer be important to my cell provider - seemingly having been replaced by secretiveness and greed along with no small smattering of pure, unadulterated, ignorance as to what a customer experience "should be". (IMO)
Honesty and Plain Dealing... right. Everyone seems to try to take a page from Apple's playbook of "If we don't tell people what's really going on, but make hype and wet their appetites, we'll make bucku bucks, even if we sell mediocre products!" Sadly, it works for Apple, but in my mind its no way to run a business.
I would very much support a company that would come out and say "We did this thing wrong. We are sorry, and this is our current attempt to fix it. This is how it will work, and this is how much time we think it will take. If you are unsatisfied, we won't fault you for taking your business else where" Instead of "Its not our fault! Its the hardware manufacturer, its the software engineer, its the traffic jam on the freeway this morning, its the RF interference from the Sun, its the (insert excuse here)! We will charge you over 300 dollars to break your 'contract' with us!"
I'm sure there is a business analyst out there who doesn't agree with this stand point. I just want more transparency. I couldn't care less about the update, I just want companies to be more transparent, and held more accountable.
(And I'm still betting that Verizon Nerfs the GPS on my phone so that I'll be more enticed to use their 10 dollar a month GPS service. No Hamilton for you!)

I have been yelling at the AT&T customer support people on Facebook several times a week for the past however months since WebOS 1.4.5 was submitted to AT&T. Honestly, it is pathetic how poorly AT&T treats their non-iPhone using customers.
FWIW: As of 4:30 AZT (Arizona Time, since we are special in that we don't know how to work with daylight savings) the Palm support page for the Verizon Pre Plus only states up to 1.4.1.1. Not a good sign if it were to be released today.
I am super excited about this. I have come back to webos just recently. I had the droid x, then iPhone 4.... But I really missed webos. So I sold them both and back with verizon palm pre plus. I really loved the iPhone, but couldn't take AT&T horrible network.... droid is great... But very very sloppy. webos just has something that puts it at a different level of synergy..... I'm happy to be back.... Super excited for New WebOs enhancements........

I thought the same thing but the responses you listed, and the miriad of similar ones, are being directed to folks whining about android products too so you need to check the tweet they're responding to.
they are certainly sending mixed signals but I'm not sure it's as bad as a total backpedalling.
so after saying:

multiple times, they backtracked & said:
"So sorry, Palm Pre Plus update not available just yet. We'll let you know as soon as it is released. Thanks for patiently waiting."
"As soon as we get info on an update for the Palm Pre Plus it will be passed along."
