webOS CONNECT Developer Event Coming to London on March 30th 13

by Tim Stiffler-Dean Mon, 21 Mar 2011 6:03 am EDT

Details have finally arrived about the HP Developer Events that some HP employees had mentioned recently, and now we can give you the update as well. On March 30th at 6:00 PM, HP is kicking off the webOS CONNECT Developer Event Series in London, England. Richard Kerris is expected to be the key speaker at the Bar Music Hall, as well as others from the webOS community. Oh, and we can't forget to mention that there will be food and drinks to get into as well.

When we first got the notice about webOS CONNECT, we were a little curious about the title of the event series since it was obviously different from the "webOS Ignite!" that we were introduced to last week. But on second look it just seems that HP had to finalize some details on what they were going to call everything, and the webOS CONNECT events are the same that we had told you about before (the webOS Ignite! website redirects to webOS CONNECT, and shares the same cute mascots too) - perhpas the fact that O'Reilly has a well-established TED-alike conference called "Ignite" had something to do with it.

So if you're from Europe and are interested in checking out one of the events that your American friends have been bragging about in person, go to the registration site and get yourself setup while space is available. Registration might be free, but don't think the event will be without value. If history proves to repeat itself, then we bet these events that are coming to Europe (and eventually the US and abroad - we hope) will be pretty fine indeed.

Sweet! Another event and HP talking out of their @ssess. Lets see if they make yet another promise about this "great" piece of software and we can all sit around and wait eight months for nothing to happen!

so it starts at 6pm ? Seems very short. Would like to go, but is too far from Dublin just for a 2/3 hour event.

Can someone please bann that spammer, this is not the place to pitch your site that is totally unrelated to webOS. BAAANNNN!!!!!!! We don't wanna buy your either stolen or cheap knockoff **** that you are selling as the real thing.

But when the hardware do come(Pre3/Touchpad) it better be bug free and hardware solid like the Blackberries(notice I didn't say tha Apple phone :)

I'm going, got myself registered and everything.

I have yet to successfully create an app due to being a bit stupid, but hopefully I'll learn a thing or two.

i bet that this is just a confrence about how their going to cancel any webos phones in america and just focus on europe and canada

I wonder if they'll be giving out any freebies?

I'm registered. It's only a 10min walk from my office and, although I have never written a phone app, I feel I could if I wanted to and this may be my chance to learn how and get started.

I'm pretty sure the only country palm has done well in is Germany. I am one of only 2 people who has a webos device that I know of. I don't know everyone in England, but I'd have thought to at least seen someone else with one on my travels around London.

i just signed up its about 10 min drive from my house. This is my first Webos Event i am going to, i hope they do a lot more of these events in London. I feel as if i am the only one walking around with a webos device.

...plethora of professional developers coming, judging from the comments above!

maybe, just maybe, if they announce a DEVELOPER event with that little bit more time ahead than 9 freaking days, it would do good for busy developers to fit it into their busy calendars (just get email myself today)

I am simply speechless for what they are doing, what the **** they think?! I am getting more pi$$ed off every time they open their corporate mouth. I just can't believe what I read, how amateurish they look like. Global reach and scale, yeah, right. All great talk, and completely unprofessional behaviour.

Rest in peace WebOS, say hello from me to BETA MAX, Commodore Amiga, and all the others great technologies that died because of idiots being in charge.

Based solely on my petition:

I'd like to think that the largest webOS support base is in Spain. Unbelievable support from Spain and other Spanish speaking countries.

I'd love to go to one since I am just getting started with webOS development, but London is a bit too far. lol
I'd love for one of these events to come to Australia (with a preference for Melbourne....but would fly to Sydney if I needed to).
I'm glad to see these events happening though, it will spark new interest and attract new developers. :)
