webOS Developer Day(s) coming to New York City November 19-20 16
As we have been expecting, Palm has officially announced webOS Developer Day (actually two days) for New York City, to be held on November 19th to 20th, following up on the Sunnyvale event earlier this year.
According to Palm's Developer Center site,
The festivities start on Friday, November 19th, with a special pre-conference boot camp for developers who are new to HP webOS. On Saturday, HP Personal Systems Group CTO Phil McKinney will give the keynote address to kick off the main event. Then, enjoy a series of technical sessions and panel discussions designed to enhance your webOS skills.
Looks like we may not get quite as much of a sneak peek as the earlier event, but we will see more webOS 2.0 highlights, Cross-platform development tools and strategy, webOS services with Node.js, some giveaways, and an Apps Lab to help developers.
Registration will begin October 14th, so mark your calendar for that day as well as the event.

Already booked my flight and hotel.
Looking forward to seeing you (and others) there for the Friday session! {Jonathan}
I'm seriously thinking of going to this event. I think it would be a blast to attend a webOS conference and be able to meet a bunch of the other webOS developers.
The flight from where I live is very reasonable; however the hotels in the area, as expected, are really expensive. If I decide to go, I really want to bring the wife along too so we can have a mini-vacation there. NYC is one of the top places we want to visit, so it would be a perfect opportunity.
You should seriously commit! The one in April was so much fun, not to mention the great networking opportunities. It's even better when you look around and realize "Hey, everyone here has a Palm Pre/Pixi" and they are all actively using them.
Just send the wife to a day spa on Saturday and come geek out with us :)
Actually she'd go visit the museums on Saturday.
Yeah I can't imagine being in a room full of Pre/Pixi owners. Weird!
I'll let you know if I decide to go. We'll definitely have to meet up.

what sort of freebie do they give out in these conferences..
@zineesh -- last time the bag had a phone, a glass, a book, and decals.
*Notice referral to "HP WebOS" again. DOH! Though HP does have the right I guess to change the name, Palm WebOS just has a better ring to it. Plus though Palm didn't have a huge market share, people so know what Palm WebOS is, now they have to retrain to know that Palm = HP.
I miss the Palm name already (RIP), guess my next phone will say HP on it...
Just my 2c.
@DanPLC You can find hotels across the pond in NJ for cheap. I got a room at the hyatt in Morristown NJ for $50 a night on a weekend via priceline. You can easily get into NYC via train or cab.
Yeah we're considering that, although we'd obviously prefer to stay directly in the city. Do you have to jump on a bunch of different trains to get to Manhattan, or is there a direct train that goes from Morristown to any part of Manhattan?
Most trains or buses will go to port authority 42nd street and from there you can practically go anywhere
Morristown is a bit far, though. You might be better off looking for rooms in nearby towns in NJ like Hoboken, Secausus or Jersey City, or even in Newark (a quick PATH or NJ Transit trip).
Since I live in NJ....
Morristown is too far to take the taxi. I shudder at the cost. Take the train in that case via nj transit. Probably ~1 hr ride via train. Look at www.njtransit.com.
All NJ trains will go to Penn station in NYC. (Port authority is for buses) Look at NJ side cities like jersey city, hoboken that get to city via PATH also. Newark is ok but only big hotels like hilton which connects directly with train station. (Newark is not a real tourist city-safe if you stay with big hotels)
Well based on the event date (11/19, 20), I wonder if we'll see webOS 2.0 before the New Year. It would be a nice xmas gift.
Can't wait for the Developer day in NYC! Guys Morristown is too far and not so convenient to reach. Much better something that that is reachable by subway/bus. Also the Path train works quite well so Hoboken is a good option too.
