When we announced our name change to webOS Nation a few months back, we noted that the webOS platform and this very site only exist today because of the community. Without our more than half a million members and millions more readers there would simply be no webOS Nation. You're this community's fuel. So we're going to gake some time every now and then to look at some of the tremendous members of our forums. With more than 9000 posts to his name and more every day, Shane (you might know his as Shadavis08) is the kind of engaged, helpful, and all-around aweomse member we love to have. He’s also our very first reader spotlight!

So, tell us a little about yourself...

Hello everyone my name is Shane Davis, or in the forums I’m shadavis08, and I’m a webOSOSaholic and, I come from the land of LOOT! Anyway, I live in the Sunshine State in the city of Pensacola where I work and play and I love it. I’m 40 years old and soon to be 41, yay, and I am getting married for the first time in 2 weeks on the 10th of March. I am by no means a dev of any sort, but am an avid webOS fan and geek. And I have been involved with beta testing lots of stuff as well. Did I mention I love webOS open source?

How long have you been a webOS user?

I started out with webOS in August of 2009 and have not looked back since, and I will go down with the webOS ship if/when it goes down! I have an original Pre, Pre 2, Veer, two Pre3 phones, and a TouchPad. I’m sure someone will bringwebOS to some other device before all mine die out… I hope!

What brought you to webOS?

Well, I was an old Palm OS user, starting out with the Treo 650, jumped to Windows Mobile and the Treo 700w, which I quickly dumped for the Treo 750. I stayed with the 750 for a couple of years before it got a little stale and decided I needed something new. And just at this point in time Palm was advertising the all new Palm webOS operating system and the new Palm Pre.

And what brought you to webOS Nation?

PreCentral (at the time) was suggested to me by someone working at Sprint when i first bought my Pre. After that I was hooked!

What are your favorite apps?

Of course my first app that I love is Preware! I give a great big thanks to those guys over at WebOS Internals, for sure. If it was not for them I don’t think I would be nearly as happy with my devices as I am now! The next app on my list is a tough one for me so I'll give kudos to a couple because they are all great to me. But Project Macaw (an evolution of phnx app) is awesome, Communities, along with some of Garrett’s themes and Sconix’s theme manager along with Jason's stuff and Rod's skill set . Dare I mention FlashCards? I'm pretty happy. I couldn’t possibly name them all though so I won’t try.

What about your favorite accessories?

My favorite accessories would have to be the Touchstone for its ease of charging with the TouchPad, but it would be the Mugen 2800 battery with my Pre3. It’s just awesome having a phone that’s lasts through 7 or 8 hours of heavy use without charging.

What are you most looking forward to from webOS in the future?

The best that we can hope for as I see it, is that Internals brings Open webOS to other devices. And yet there is still a glimmer of hope in me that want someone like Samsung, LG, or HTC, even a lesser known company could do something with the webOS and make me really happy.

Thanks Shane!
