White TouchPad unboxed, found to be most Panda-like tablet yet 22
Are you ready to have your mind blown? Okay, well keep waiting, because this probably isn’t going to do it. Even though it’s not available anymore, at least one PreCentral forum member – the ever so lucky myDrpc – managed to receive what we’re going to call the most rare TouchPad to date: a white TouchPad. Underneath its glossy white shell you’ll find a speedy 1.5GHz processor (the currently-available-but-mostly-sold-out black TouchPad has a 1.2GHz chip) and storage space of 64GB (old: 16 or 32GB). Apart from that, it’s the TouchPad we know and love, but in white. Check out the rest of the pics in the forum!

It's so beautiful! /drool
Costcentral.com sold this for $250 the other day. Limit 1 per customer. I ordered one but haven't heard of any shipping notification as of yet. Still hoping.
Is it using the same processor as the other two TouchPads jsut upclocked? Or is it actually a new processor?
It's the same processor. The 16/32 GB version processors are downclocked. Bring them back up to speed with UberKernel + Govnah!
This was actually for sale at HP Germany, so I don't know if it qualifies for the almost unicorn-like status you're implicitly ascribing to it. It's not like it's a one-off or a prototype unit that was accidentally sold. They probably just didn't produce that many of them before axing webOS hardware.
They were "announced" on the European web site, but none were ever sold.
Quite a few people said the white Touchpad was sold in the firesale as well. I didn't know and didn't check. I was struggling enough trying to buy a 32 GB Touchpad. I was lucky, I got one...
Front black and only the back in white is not beautiful.
This looks a little bit cheap. ^^
Only my humble opinion.
I , too wish the bezel was white :(
same here...when do you look at the back of your devices? i don't. its the front that i care about. i was excited to see this with a white bezel. now i'm disappointed. (but still more disappointed that there won't be more touchpads being produced hehe)
What does it mean "currently-available-but-mostly-sold-out"?
Been for the last week F5ing on several sites suposed to sell them (Dixons, HP shop US, UK, DE, etc) no changes.
Is it possible in any manner to get one of those in Europe? I was even interested when it was standard price.
"Underneath its glossy white shell you’ll find a speedy 1.5GHz processor (the currently-available-but-mostly-sold-out black TouchPad has a 1.2GHz chip)"
The 16GB and 32GB versions of the Touchpad share the same Qualcomm APQ8060 processor as the 64GB version. HP downclocked the 1.5GHz chip to 1.2GHz for the 16GB and 32GB versions, probably to conserve battery life.

Does anyone think there's a chance that there will be an aftermarket upgrade from the 1.2 to the 1.5Ghz chip.
If you can get the 1.5Ghz, seems like it might be easy to drop in? Or maybe the 1.2GHz chip is soldered making it more difficult?
See the comment immediately above yours.
We were writing ours at the same time :-).
I thought it was the same chip, but people have been talking like it was worth more money to get a processor bump. If it's just removing the underclocking, uberkernel gives that and a whole lot more.
Seems kind of silly unless you really need 64GB of space or love the color white.
Also seems like deceptive marketing since it implies there are different chips.
There seem to be 3 auctions on eBay at the moment for these:

These are going to be expensive, though.
Lucky enough to order one of the 200 Cost Central sold the other day! Got my order #, confirmation #, & they already charged it. Guy at the store confirmed it wasn't a typo & they had over 10,000+ 16 & 32 orders to fill before they could process the shipment as they were ordered before, unless you paid for faster shipping, which was a bit more than I wanted to pay. Checked them out, and they are a Preferred Platinum Parter of HP & it shows they are supplier for a number of big accounts like the Univ. of Texas, so I feel a little better that this isn't a scam... . Hopefully it will be arriving on Monday- right when I return from my trip!!!!
its the #sadpanda touchpad... For saddest launch ever! :(
It's a biracial tablet!!

I got mine yesterday too. The white is really quite creamy, very much like a real panda. Now I have to figure out how to Photoshop a panda holding it for my profile pic!
I got mine too the other day. LOL I was thinking of this too. I was going to use the panda from the DirecTV commercial with the Asian dude as Whale.
