World Map of webOS Developers By Location 17
Have you ever wondered where your favorite webOS App Developers were located around the world or even where the highest population of developers lived? With people all over the world, including Australia, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Israel and more, it's an interesting (and difficult) thing to keep track. But Gomez Industries has helped us out with trying to find out where everyone is, and we now have an interactive map to see where each developer calls home, as well as give some details on the projects they have worked on for our platform.
What's cool about a map like this is that it allows people to see what developers are in their hometown (or at least, home country). Would have never guessed that the number of German developers was so large, or that the developers of Carbon webOS (an upcoming Twitter client) were from the United Arab Emirates? The US still leads the pack with the largest population of developers world wide, but we'll see if that changes as more add their pin to the map.
The map is still very incomplete, though, as many developers have yet to add their points on the map for people to see. For example, the webOS CONNECT Event that we told you about the other day (coming up on March 30th) has close to 300 people registered already, but only 3 developers have listed themselves on our map here. And with another event coming to Paris soon after, we can't imagine there being only 3 developers from France to show at that one as well. But I suppose we'll have to see.
If you are interested in adding your point to the map (as a developer, not just a fan) then take a few moments to create an account (top right corner of the map) and use the Secret Key "webOS" to set your point, and as soon as the guys from Gomez Industries are able to approve it, you'll see your name added to the quickly growing list of developers. If you aren't a developer but are interested in becoming one, it's easy to get started, but check out a few of our articles first.
Now the question remains - which of those developers is going to build an app that pulls all of this data in for us to see on our devices?
UPDATE: The creator of this map, Manny, has asked for one favor from those interested in adding their names to the list. When putting in details about yourself, give a list of apps that you've work on or projects you've finished (patches, apps, themes, etc..) so that people can know who they are looking at when they click on your point. It also helps him cut back on spam and find legitimate developers to approve.

Cool. I didn't there were two developers who live in my home state of NC!
Now we just need to find who made "This app does nothing" and kick his **** JOKE!!! Not Serious!!!
Well I wanted to put myself on the map, but the site requires yet another username/password for a feature that I am going to use exactly once in a lifetime.
There's hardly a registration process, though. Just put in the username and password you want and it logs you in automatically. Never have to log in again.
Hey Tim my name is CJ and im learning to become a developer half way through javascript and I live on clayton rd like 2 miles away from New Lebanon, just thought that was really cool.
Oh really? Well I think that's enough reason to get coffee or something sometime. What do you think? My number is on the map - call me sometime and leave a message. :)
Glad to see the Miami Valley representing. What apps or patches have you worked on Tim? I want to make sure to support a local.
Hei i'm still here, and i'm in Italy!
Ther'is no point in this country, but i think that in a few time you can see my first app!
I'm an developer, and Hp send me a Pre 2 for that! See that link: http://www.pegaso2.biz. .->
Awesome! Nice job, Mannyman!
Thanks.
Hey Mannyman! Nice map! Maybe you could do a map for remaining Pre minus and Pre Plus users around the world! You could add me as a release day Sprint Pre owner-especially since I live in your neighborhood! Go Esco!
That would be a lot of work. But if you help me with it, we can make that possible.
i tried to add myself to this a long time ago - didn't work.
i was located in Stockholm, Sweden - but in July 2010 i moved to Munich, Germany. i will be attending the webos ignite event on March 30.. this would also be the 1 year anniversary for our webos development efforts (PDK specific) :P
Just 1 more thing.
When submitting an entry: Please let me know how you are involved with webOS development. Make it easy to verify your Apps, Patches, Themes, tutorials, etc... It takes me quite awhile to Google some of the map submissions...
Thanks,
Manny
PS. If you leave your Twitter name that would be helpful too.
You see guys, there are webOS developers out there.
There's only 1 Canadian?
Go Jason Go!
you noticed there are developers coming from countries where webos devices are not officially sold? HP are you noticing this? Webos fans are still around.. why oh why don't you open the apps store to everyone?
I'm actually quite surprised that there's only one other developer here in Oregon. Portland has become a very tech heavy area of the country. Like most Pacific NW stuff we'll probably have to group Washington and Idaho in to get any real numbers.
