PreCentral's Take

(Warning: this post for Twitter junkies only)

I just re-installed Yak after spending quite a bit of time with TweetMe (read TweetMe Review) and I'm glad I did. Since the last time I tried out this little Twitter client it's really filled out. Yak is super fast and super-clean. Combine that with per-account notification options and you've got a real winner.

Most of all, though, I'm liking Yak because it has precisely the button layout I care about: Home, Replies, and Direct Messages are 1 (one, as in less than two) taps away from any screen. There's no need for a refresh button, just retap the button for the scene you're looking at. You can also shake to refresh and get a little vibrate when you successfully do that (if I had one gripe it's that it's a little oversensitive on that front).

So Yak got me for the buttons and is (so far) keeping me for the speed.

Awesome call. Just installed Yak from Tweetme and it's a 100% improvment. It just looks better too.

Nothing can beat SPAZ for multiple twitter accounts, but that's just me. I love open source.

Yak looks like a nice Twitter client. However, I already have Tweed and TweetMe, and I'm trying to choose between the two which one I want to keep using. TweetMe seems sluggish even with my Pre overclocked to 800 MHz. Plus I can't seem to figure out how to go directly to the start of new tweets received on a refresh (like the "Go To New" function in Tweed).
