AT&T Pre (or Eos) confirmed in code digging

GSM Logo What a treasure trove this ROM image has proven to be! Our code demons have been all over this thing, and found numerous references to GSM, GPRS, and UTMS.

In CastleUMTSFirmware Image:

#    !!!This File is for Castle(GSM/UMTS) Modem Firmware releases only !!

In /usr/bin/TelephonyInterfaceLayerGsm:

root@castle:/# ipkg files telephonyinterfacelayer1gsm
Package telephonyinterfacelayer1gsm (1.0.0-125) is installed on root and has the following files:

In /usr/lib/luna/CarrierNetworkSettings.db3:

wap.cingular?ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM 10.1.1.180
http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002
http://mms.singtel.com:10021/mmsc# wap.voicestream.comyhs_nullhs_null 10.128.1.69
http://mms.gprs.rogers.com

In /usr/bin/TelephonyInterfaceLayerGsm:

root@castle:/# ipkg files telephonyinterfacelayer1gsm
Package telephonyinterfacelayer1gsm (1.0.0-125)

And that's just the beginning. I’m going to be honest, I am in no way a code and really have only a basic understand of what all that gibberish means. But with words like Cingular (i.e. AT&T) and GPRS and GSM and UMTS scattered all over the code, it means only one thing: the Pre and webOS absolutely are coming to GSM. Sure, we’d learned that before in round-about ways, but there’s just something all warm and fuzzy about seeing it in the code.

Thanks to everybody that sent this in, and all those cracking in the forum!
