Add Google contacts' birthdays to your calendar

While the old PalmOS would automatically add your contacts' birthdays to your calendar, webOS has yet to add that feature in. We have already shown you how you can get your Facebook birthdays added to your Google Calendar, and if you use Google contacts to store birthdays of your contact, you can also add those birthdays to your calendar. In fact, Google has a built-in way for you to do this.

  1. Just go to http://www.google.com/calendar
  2. On the left-hand side, click the arrow next to the "Other Calendar" listing and choose "Browse Interesting Calendars"
  3. On the next page, choose the "More" option and the first calendar should be "Contacts' birthdays and events"
  4. Click the "Subcribe" link (it should turn into an "Unsubscribe" link)
  5. Tap the "Back to Calendar" link and you should now see a new calendar added with all your contacts.

A few quick notes:

  • If you have set up your Google Calendar as an Exchange account, you will need to go back to http://m.google.com/sync (from an iOS device or iOS-spoofed browser) and enable that calendar to sync
  • There is no way to add notifications or reminder to these events
  • If you have also added your Facebook birthdays to your Google Calendar, you may see duplicate events for any contact whose birthday is listed in your Google contacts and in Facebook since these are two separate calendars
