All I want for Christmas (for webOS)

Palm Dear Santa,

I know you’re a busy guy and I really should have sent you this letter much earlier, but I know that if anybody could pull off the “Christmas miracle,” it’s you. I’ve tried my best to be a good blogger this year. I know sometimes I’ve aggravated my readers, but I said what I said because I thought it needed to be said. That’s being a good boy, right?

Anyway, I hope that you get this list before you take off from your North Pole base of operations. Below is a list of what I’d really really really like to see on Christmas morning. If it’s not there, I understand, but if it is I promise to be extra good next year. I'm not trying to be greedy, I just want you to know that there's a lot of stuff that would make me happy. Snow, though one of those things, does not count in the gift tally.

webOS 1.3.5. Uncle Jon said it was on its way, but to be honest I don’t think he managed to get a copy before the shelves were cleaned out. I know he’s trying, but I can’t wait!

Video Recording. I want to be able to send to far-flung relatives videos of my little sister ripping through wrapping paper, but I guess they’re going to have to settle for photos instead.

GPU. My iPhone friends have all the coolest games! Don’t get me wrong, games like Paratrooper and Word Whirl are my kind of fun, but sometimes I’d really like to be able to take a ’69 Mustang for a spin around the 3D track in Need For Speed.

Native development. I guess this kind of goes hand-in-hand with enabling the GPU.

Touchstone Accessories. Jon said that we were going to see an ecosystem of Touchstone stuff, but all the ecosystem we’ve seen is a dock and different charging backs. What would be awesome is a car charger/cradle.

The Pre II. I don’t really need this on Christmas (unless you want to just slide it onto my Sprint contract), but I do want an idea of where Palm is going with future phones. The Pixi is a step in the right diversification direction, but what I really want to see is what comes after the Pre. If you can swing it, I think that double the storage and double the RAM would be cool. Oh, and one of those fancy new Snapdragon processors. And a pony!

A lightsaber. I’m not talking about a replica toy, I want a real lightsaber. I’ve got people things that need cutting! Bonus points if you put it unwrapped in my stocking so I can use it to open presents. It's completely webOS-related, I swear.

Sincerely,

Derek
