Quickly determine an app version number

While most apps have an about page within the app that will give you the current installed version number of an app, it's not the most convenient method of determining

Phones

  • On webOS phones, press the Option (Orange/Silver) key and tap on an app in the App Launcher. In addition to giving you the ability to delete the app, it will show you the version number of the app
  • Also while in the App Launcher, you can swipe-down from the top-left of the screen to bring down the Application drop-down menu and choose "List Apps..." to get a listing of all apps and version numbers
  • On webOS 1.x phones, you can open up the App Catalog and then tap on the shopping cart icon on the bottom-right to get a listing of all apps and their version numbers
  • On webOS 2.x phones, you can load up the "Software Manager" app to get a listing of all apps and their version numbers, or you can open up the "Device Info" app, choose "More Info" and then select the "Software" tab.

TouchPad

  • On the TouchPad, you can press-and-hold on an app and then press on the "X" icon just as if you were going to delete it. In the delete confirmation pop-up, you will see the current version number. Make sure that you then press "Cancel" so you don't actually delete the app
  • Just as on phones, you can also load up the Software Manager app or the Device Info app to get a listing of all apps and their version numbers
