This tip is only for devices running webOS 3.0 and higher

Although the App Launcher received a major overhaul in webOS 3.0, moving icons around your app launcher still works essentially the same way as in webOS 1.0 or webOS 2.0, just with a few small difference. When you press-and-hold on an icon in your launcher, you will still enter an "edit" mode that will let you drag an icon to wherever you would like to move it to.

However, in webOS 3.0, there are a few quirks that you need to be aware of as you start to organize your launcher icons.

  • Once you enter "edit" mode, you can continue to rearrange multiple apps. Just drag one after another.
  • Just as in webOS 1.0 and 2.0, if you want to move the app to a different launcher page, just drag it to the edge of the screen and the page with switch. You can also drag the app to the name of the tab on the top of the screen to quickly switch to that page
  • If you want to scroll up or down on the launcher page while in "edit" mode, you need to drag along the edge of either side of the screen. Otherwise, you will just grab the icon you tap on and start to move that.
  • When you are all done, be sure to press the DONE button on the top right. While you are able to just tap on any "empty space" on the screen to exit "edit" mode, there is a bug that may cause your icons to revert back to the original location after a device restart.
