Wait for webOS 1.4.5 continues, but the SDK is available now

While O2 Germany appears to be the only carrier to have officially released webOS 1.4.5 to their users, the rest of the world waits on pins and needles. Phone Scoop and Engadget note that webOS 1.4.5 Sprint release notes that we pointed out last week have been oddly updated with a mention of France's SFR network. Make of that what you will. We still expect AT&T users to have to wait a bit longer than other for the update, but at this point it's anybody's guess when most carriers will see it.

While you wait, the official webOS 1.4.5 anticipation thread is the place to go until your carrier gets the update officially. We'll also note that patches and users of custom kernels should pay extra special attention to the following threads:

Meanwhile, Palm has made the webOS 1.4.5 SDK, incorporating the freshly out of beta PDK, available to all developers. webOS 1.4.5, if you weren't aware, is primarily designed to allow the Palm Pixi to support 3D gaming 'PDK' apps and to add the ability for 'indie' developers to distribute PDK apps.

On a related note, Palm is now accepting submissions for the upcoming PDK Hot Apps promotion for when the contest goes live on the 15th.  Palm will hold off on publishing your apps until the start date unless you specify otherwise or unless your app specifically targets the Pixi, in which case they will be published as soon as they're reviewed.  The moral of the story for developers: get to work!
