Another week has come and gone, and the webOS Nation continues to move forward with the times. This week we've heard more news about the availability of the HP TouchPad and Pre3, we've tried out more apps that have arrived in the app catalog, and have celebrated as the webOS community raised more than $16,000 for the homebrew development team at WebOS Internals. Watch the video above for a quick rundown of the important news from the week, and then hit the link below to get all of the juicy details about everything else that's been happening. If you have a story that you would like to share with a future webOS Weekly, send an email to tim@precentral.net, and we'll be sure to add it in next week.

Around the Web

  • These days, besides our own community forums, Twitter is the place to be when it comes to get in touch with other webOS users. Terillo understands that, and so he has created a website and application that allows you to view and follow many of the more active webOS fans and developers. See the full list at 19niny1.com or get the app from the catalog, and be sure to add yourself if you haven't already been added.
  • The webOS Nation truly is greater than any other group out there in the mobile development world, and you all proved that this past week through raising more than $16,000 for the WebOS Internals team. They'll use that money to buy new devices and keep their services running for a long time to come, and it's all because of what you were able to come together and do, in spite of the decisions that HP has made.
  • If you weren't able to make it to the NYC webOS Developers Meetup back in July, one of the hosts of the event has got you covered. webOSDealer on YouTube has uploaded several videos this past week to show off the developer presentations and discussions from the event, and they're all published for your viewing pleasure right here.
  • In webOS 2.0 we were given the ability to add new laucher tabs for organizing our apps, and in 3.0 on the TouchPad, that was taken away. If you haven't already read our article on how to add more tabs to the launcher using Preware, you should instead watch this video below by DrJailbreak.

  • Paul Rouget. from Mozilla, is an owner of an HP Veer. He had the opportunity to go to Taiwan recently, and noticed a strange trend in this East-Asian country that is very different from what we do here in the Western world. His article, called "I bought a WebOS device and went to Taiwan. Now I understand why the Web on Mobile is a pretty big deal." speaks for itself on the content. Check it out if you'd like to know more about why developing for the mobile web is not a bad idea at all.
  • Phnx app users who also own a Pre3 can breathe a sigh of relief this morning. While the original developer has been unable to get his hands on the latest webOS device to update the app and test with (as he lives in the US), England-based @errade has updated the app to work on the Pre3, and you can now download it for free on his website.
